One of the core functions of a site manager is the planning of personnel and resources to meet project specific deadlines o Manage and co-ordinate all activities on site to ensure optimal production on site o Achieving project specific targets o Plan short-term action-steps to carry out goals set by the level above o Assign jobs to supervisors and follow up (Manage and control) o Be one step ahead of the operations. (By the end of the day, you need to know what must happen the next day, and who will do it with what equipment) o Manage and plan personnel hours o Toolbox talk ready for next day & DSTIs o Plan maintenance activities of the equipment with Workshop Manager o Monitoring and plan overtime to ensure the work for the week can be completed. o Co-ordinate and plan all activities on site effectively and efficiently · REPORTING AND COMMUNICATION o Feedback and communication to project manager (Daily Diaries) o Hold frequent meetings with employees to keep them updated on the day to day activities o Complete a record of daily events, and send it to the PM / Client o Give feedback on the suitability of engineering documents o Ensure that the Method of Change procedure is followed correctly & records are kept & sent to the correct people. o Give feedback to the PM / relevant party if there is a change to the original project plan. o Identify bottle necks around project specific resource requirements and communicate to Project Managers HSQE The health and safety of the complete workforce on site is the responsibility of the site manager. The health and safety advisor on site is there in a supporting authority but the responsibility remains with the site manager and reports to the site manager Site Managers must be aware of their legal responsibilities to ensure that their employees work safely and that the workplace that they are responsible for meets Company Standards o Exceed HSQE site targets o Keep his team safe, and adhering to the safety rules. o Able to create a project specific risk assessment. o Overseeing and maintaining the HSQE documentation system on site o Ensure that the workforce comply with all HSQE Policies and Company Regulations and to maintain a high standard regarding Safety o Communicating standards and procedures o Pro-active in identifying problems and taking preventative action with relevant HODs o Manage RAMS training process and ensure compliance o Ensure your team is aware of the risk involved with the work they are executing (Risk Assessments) o Ensure that the waste management system and environmental requirements are adhered to o Responsible for quality, provide clear directions, and give timely feedback to their workers o Ensure that all records and administrative tasks are completed to company specifics o Ensure that quality inspections are done and documented for every loading, offloading or receiving of goods HR AND SUPERVISION o Lead and motivate subordinates. o Assist with recruitment process o Direct tasking and jobs to supervisors and subordinates o Control and evaluate performance of subordinates and the department - performance appraisals o Review and sign-off of time sheets and ensure submission deadlines are met o Enforce rules, regulations and managerial instructions o Solve routine daily problems o Sort out payroll issues on site o Maintain site discipline o Oversee all operational work, including but not limited to: Transport activities Rigging activities Crane activities · Matric Grade 12 · Degree/Diploma in logistics or operations management · Experience of large project planning and management · Experience of abnormal transport, cranes and installations · HR and IR understanding · Project Management training · Legal Liability Training · Incident Investigation · Risk Assessment Training · First Aid Training · Fire Fighting Training · Route Cause Analysis Technique PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES: · Positive Person · Strong organization and problem solving skills · High level of self-motivation (Proactive) · Good communicator written and verbal · Good people skills · Motivational Leader · Team leader · Able to manage people · Able to work as part of a team and individually · Able to discipline and resolve conflict. · Able to work under and handle pressure · Ability to work under pressure. · Strong analytical and problem solving skills · Come up with logical solutions to problems · Quality and detail focus · Well organized and good planning and coordination skills · Able to work under and handle pressure · Able to adapt communication style to suit audience
