Here is an opportunity to join one of the biggest Iron Ore Mine company in South Africa as our SHE Officer. The role will assist line management in meeting the safety, health and environmental standards and implementing safety initiatives in their respective work areas, by verifying compliance to SHE systems during inspections, audits, investigations and leadership interactions and interventions.
Job Description
We are currently seeking to employ a SHE Officer to join our Kumba Iron Ore Team. The role will require you to Conduct physical condition inspections as per schedule, inspection of associated documentation, discussing, recording sign off off findings in logbook. The system currently used to capture information is Enablon, you will capture information and close out previous findings.
You will conduct incident investigations; you will also finalise report and getting sign off and copies of associated docs (Supporting Documents) and follow up on corrective actions. Conduct inspections in your area of responsibility as outlined by section 2.17.1 MHSA. The role will also require you to support actions on the Safety Improvement Plan (SIP). You will actively participate in safety initiatives and conduct Internal Audit in respective areas, co-ordinate the emergency drills and to assist in the analysis of safety statistics.
This role is in the Jig Benefaction Plant Engineering & Operations/ Mining Operations on a Band 7 and will be reporting to the Sections Manager - Safety.
Qualifications
You will be required to have a Grade 12, A National Diploma in Safety Management (Essential) with a relevant certificate in SAMTRAC or COMSOC 1 & 2. A certificate of training in OHSAS 18001 System Auditing and integrated internal auditing will serve as a recommendation. You will be required to have 5+ years of experience in Mining Engineering, Mining Operations and you must be computer literacy. A valid drivers’ license (Code 8) will also be required for this role.
