Course description:Examination of current and emerging critical issues affecting sustainable management and conservation of global forests.
Seminars led by students, faculty and visiting speakers.

Sessional dates of appointment: 1 September 2025 – 30 April 2026; Please note that this position includes the completion of any course work and grading not completed by 30 April 2026 Salary (per full-course, inclusive of vacation): Please note that should rates stipulated in the collective agreement vary from rates stated in this posting, the rates stated in the collective agreement shall prevail. Minimum qualifications: PhD with strong knowledge of forest conservation, management and research; strong network of contacts within the forest conservation community and industry.
Description of duties: Prepare and deliver seminars, organize guest speakers, maintain course notes and readings, set and mark course assignments; compile, record and submit final marks.
Be available to students through regular office hours.
In general, the first hour will be devoted to a lecture by the guest speaker and the second hour will be devoted to student-led discussion.
At least one week prior to the seminar, readings or a short assignment will be provided for the seminar topic.
You will be asked to submit a cover letter and CV in addition to completing the application form.
This job is posted in accordance with the CUPE 3902 Unit 3 Collective Agreement. It is understood that some announcements of vacancies are tentative, pending final course determinations and enrolment.
Should rates stipulated in the collective agreement vary from rates stated in this posting, the rates stated in the collective agreement shall prevail. Preference in hiring is given to qualified individuals advanced to the rank of Sessional Lecturer II or Sessional Lecturer III in accordance with Article 14:12 of the CUPE 3902 Unit 3 collective agreement. Please note: Undergraduate or graduate students and postdoctoral fellows of the University of Toronto are covered by the CUPE 3902 Unit 1 collective agreement rather than the Unit 3 collective agreement, and should not apply for positions posted under the Unit 3 collective agreement.
