Overview
The Hexagon PPM (Cape Town Office) is seeking a highly motivated QA Automation Engineer to assist in the development activities of the j5 suite of products. Candidates considered for employment within the j5 Product Development team must be well-rounded, self-motivated, and team players. Candidates must be able to adapt quickly, by learning methodologies and technologies through formal and ad-hoc training as well as on-the-job training.
The candidate will function as one of the team’s automation quality advocates and will be working with an experienced software development team to provide quality assured automation solutions for j5 products.
The candidate must have strong interpersonal skills; adept at dealing with internal and external customer situations and be able to work well in an Agile development environment.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will perform reasonable and related duties linked to organizational goals:?
Work under minimal supervision using independent judgment and the application of software development principals, theories and concepts.
Quality Assurance: Work closely with the Product Owner/QA Manager/Development leads to understand release scope and define adequate automation testing coverage
Assist the QA Manager to define release criteria/schedules, file and schedule QA release backlog items, monitor and report release status as per PPM QA process; participate actively in the entire software development life cycle.
Uphold and develop quality standards through participation in software development reviews and processes with the QA Manager and other stakeholders.
Analyze and test software to ensure that products are fit for purpose and are within total quality management limits and standards. Test software in later stages of development for reliability and accuracy.
Create and execute automated and manual procedures and test scenarios based on software architecture.
Document automation test processes and outcomes.
Communicate with product owners, product developers and technical support specialists on software issues. Analyze data and communicate test results with multiple levels of the PPM organization.
May include consulting and training.
Accurately documenting testing activities and outcomes.
Support: Troubleshoot and resolve technically complex support issues. Interact with product owners, product development and quality assurance teams to give feedback, discuss design issues, investigate problems, and develop solutions to meet the technological needs of end users.
Qualifications
Required:
Degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related Engineering discipline.
ISTQB qualification in Software/Automation Testing.
Minimum of 5 years QA automation testing experience of web/mobile applications in an Agile (Scrum) team.
Creating/executing Unit test scripts in a continuous Integration environment (e.g. Gitlab, Jenkins)
Web based automation scripting using Selenium or similar.
Mobile based automation using Appium or similar.
Automation of API testing using Postman, SOAPUI etc.
Requirements analysis and review.
Manual testing (writing and execution of test plans, test cases etc.)
Proficiency in database queries.
Knowledge of programming (e.g. Python, Java, JavaScript)
Experience in the following is an advantage:
User Acceptance Testing (UAT)
Performance and stress testing.
ISO 9001 QMS standards (or similar process maturity models/standards).
Knowledge and experience in automation testing in DevOps
