Our client considers its social performance critical to business success. As a result governing frameworks have been established to ensure the level of social performance and sustainability. The governing framework ensures the systems are in place, the right people are involved in their implementation and that implementation is monitored and reviewed. This role ensures an integrated approach is taken to our social risks and impacts and the framework and system is followed. This role has a strong strategic function which involves proactive identification of community needs, risks and development of effective strategies and approaches to implement Social Development Projects at an operation. This role plans and coordinates all engagements with company (Frameworks, Standards, Policies and Procedures) and local and regional stakeholders. The role will seek to align the company social strategy with stakeholder expectations for mutual benefit. The role manages the relationships between the operations and local and regional stakeholders. It also aligns the key messages from the copmpany and ensures cohesion on social plans and timing. The role is required to manage the often complex social performance team at the operations. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES ï‚· Manage department within the agreed budget and headcount constraints ï‚· Ensure all documents required for external audit are provided to the audit team ï‚· Analyse commitments claimed by communities for legal claim ï‚· Ensure that commitments claimed by communities have valid legal claim ï‚· Report to GM and BU on SLP progress ï‚· Report on SP strategic objectives to GM and HoDs ï‚· Define job description and requirements for suitable candidate ï‚· Align with HR department to ensure candidate search is triggered and interviews are arranged ï‚· Conduct interviews ï‚· Provide feedback on candidates ï‚· Identify current resource situation incl. potential resource shortage ï‚· Align resourcing with Executive Head of Corporate Affairs ï‚· Implement budget and capacity plan ï‚· Conduct training for SP team and adjacent functions ï‚· Inform GM on final Capacity Plan ï‚· Manage performance of team and align team development plans and KPI to the AAP requirements ï‚· Provide leadership and team support and thereby ensure cohesion and common purpose ï‚· Engage with key stakeholders as required Resettlement ï‚· Appoint resettlement specialist (if necessary) Site strategy ï‚· Provide input to SP relevant aspects of VPSHR ï‚· Align social commitments policy with HoDs ï‚· Align social commitments policy with GM ï‚· Align HR DD with HoDs ï‚· Align SP strategy with GM ï‚· Align social commitments made with GM and HoDs ï‚· Oversee that SP activities and recommendations are integrated into all site activities ï‚· Align with HoDs and GM where necessary to ensure that SP perspective is integrated into site activities ï‚· Oversee that SP recommendations are integrated into the operating model ï‚· Identify adjustments required to operating model based on SP strategy ï‚· Align with HoDs and GM where necessary to identify operation model adjustments ï‚· Oversee all stakeholder engagements ï‚· Align with communities ï‚· Engage with relevant stakeholders ï‚· Complete SP elements for stage gates of investment assurance ï‚· Manage all SP activities and commitments on site ï‚· Develop SP strategy with inputs from BU and Group ï‚· Integrate detailed actions of overall SP strategy in SMP ï‚· Implement SP strategy ï‚· Collect relevant information from LoM and RDP from BU and Group MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE NEEDED Social science degree or related degree such as development planning A business management qualification would be an advantage 7 years experience in Social Performance and related matters Experience in working with government institutions and communities Project management Interpersonal and communication skills Good lobbying and network skills Lateral thinking skills Analytical skills Related legislation
