Seeking a Legal Advisor to provide expert legal support across its diverse business operations, including franchised retail, retail property development & management, and other commercial ventures.
This role requires a detail-oriented and business-minded legal professional who can navigate challenging legal matters and ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
Reporting and Role Details
This position reports directly to the CEO and includes line management responsibility for one junior legal advisor.
It is a full-time, office-based role.
Qualifications LLB degree or the equivalent and admission as an Attorney.5-10 years of experience in commercial law, property law, or corporate law.Strong understanding of franchise agreements, retail regulations, and property transactions.Ability to work independently and manage multiple legal matters.Excellent contract negotiation and drafting skills.Key Responsibilities Drafting & Reviewing Agreements: Leases, Sale Agreements, Service Level Agreements (SLAs), Sale of Share Agreements, Franchise Agreements, Acknowledgements of Debt, and other commercial contracts.Company Secretarial Duties: Assisting in drafting and filing resolutions, maintaining statutory records, and ensuring compliance with company law.Chairing Disciplinary Enquiries: Conducting disciplinary hearings and drafting outcomes.Overseeing Collections & Litigation: Managing debt recovery, litigation strategy, and liaising with external attorneys.Legal Compliance & Risk Management: Ensuring operational compliance, drafting policies, and providing legal opinions.External Liaison: Managing relationships with external attorneys, negotiating fees, and handling disputes.Legal Due Diligence: Investigating legal risks in mergers, acquisitions, and expansions.Legal Research & Advisory: Providing legal opinions and conducting legislative research.Desired Experience & Qualifications LLB degree or the equivalent and admission as an Attorney.5-10 years of relevant experience.Strong understanding of franchise agreements, retail regulations, and property transactions.Ability to work independently and manage multiple legal matters.Excellent negotiation and drafting skills.Package & Remuneration Salary based on experience, ranging from R700k to R1.4 million CTC per annum.Exposure to a diverse, fast-paced business environment.Opportunity to work with industry leaders and decision-makers.Note: A consultant will contact shortlisted candidates.
