Senior Ladieswear Buyer

An opportunity has become available in our Exact buying team for an experienced Senior Buyer.
This position requires a high-energy, self-motivated individual with people management experience and some exposure to the development and management of the portfolio strategy. The successful applicant must be comfortable with working in a fast paced environment and be results-driven
Responsibilities: Successfully source and procure a balanced range of merchandise in line with company strategy and customer profile.Work closely with the planner, through analysis of previous sales patterns, market trends, forward trend direction and brand initiatives.Formulate departmental strategies to maximize sales and then timeously source and secure stock to implement strategies.Negotiate effectively to deliver value and profitability.Build and maintain good relationships with employees, supplier's partners and key functions in the business.Knowledge transfer through coaching and mentoring junior team members.Able to product develop product with design team and implement tests through seasonHolistic and Strategic thinker, as well as consider specifics and detail.Assess complex situations and implement workable solutions.Communicate effectively at all levels.Team player and be able to foster collaboration across buying, planning, marketing and sourcing functions.Requirements: A relevant tertiary qualificationHave experience as a Buyer (5+ years essential)At least 3 years' experience in LadieswearProven leadership and People management abilityProven track record in building and maintaining strategic supplier relationshipsA good working knowledge of the current computer software packages (knowledge of Excel, Word & E-mail would be preferable)Competencies and behaviours for success: Ability to persuade and influence both internal and external stakeholdersAbility to work well under pressure and deliver to aggressive deadlines, incl. problem solvingStrong written and verbal communication at all levels of organisationPreference will be given, but not limited to candidates from designated groups in terms of the Employment Equity Act.
