The Senior Financial Accountant will manage the responsibility for the accounting, finance & control processes for the Africa Market providing expert advice on accounting and governance matters. It is an excellent opportunity to join the Africa Accounting and Control team within a complex, fast paced and exciting Region/Team within Experian. The team consists of 5 employees and is spread across five countries, with the team members working closely with the local FDs, BPs and FP&A teams, local and central Controllers and with the Shared Services Centre. This role offers strong commercial exposure, business partnering opportunities, and management responsibility, direct exposure to the wider Africa Finance team and the EMEA Head of Accounting & Control and the chance to leave a lasting impact across the Africa business. What you’ll need to bring to the party Initiative and responsibility Systematic approach Effective communication Constructive teamwork What you’ll be doing Monthly accounting and reporting for the Africa region Provide financial accounting leadership and support in relation to all revenue and cost items within the African entity Work closely and effectively with the local FP&A team, Financial Controller and Finance Director in supporting the markets Ensure a strong and effective internal control and governance framework is in place, financial data is complete and accurate and all transactions are consistent with Experian’s accounting policies and IFRS / local reporting requirements Ensure compliance with all regulatory and statutory requirements in the local market and ensure compliance with all Group Accounting standards, with focus on revenue recognition and accrued revenue balances Ensure compliance with all local tax legislation or related legislation, specific to the in-country business, including responsibility for all statutory processes Management of external audit, including finalising statutory accounts with a clean audit report and in line with Group reporting Ensure a standardised approach to all revenue streams that is in line with the agreed EMEA best practice Calculation of IFRS15 compliant revenue for Africa Drive continuous improvement and efficiency across all aspects of the financial processes, most notably with AR and driving down DBO’s and bad debt provisions Direct management of five team members located in South Africa Act as a key member of the Accounting and Control leadership team to determine priorities and drive process and organisational change improvements Ad-hoc tasks and projects to support manager, team and Africa FD Involvement in Africa and EMEA Wide projects Occasional travel to Experian offices What is required 3-4 years accounting experience Minimum 2 years’ experience in managing people Ability to influence stakeholders Strong relationship builder Ability to be proactive and work independently, with the skill to adapt and drive change where necessary Strong IFRS experience required Experian takes data privacy seriously.
