Key responsibilities will include:Ensuring timeous output of analysis results and rapid prototype samplesDevelop and optimise designs to enable high functionality and performance with the efficient use of material and technologiesDevelop and validate models for use in simulation models, based on test dataInitiate and lead projects that explore innovative design for internal/external customersGive technical guidance to FEA engineer on producing simulation results that are reliable and accurate, and assist product designers in understanding how to improve the functional performance of designsReview product designers work to ensure high quality and accuracyCollaborate with toolroom on design and manufacturing of blow moulds and tooling partsRegister and maintain intellectual property protection registers of all designsInterpret design parameters successfully converted into a product offeringProvide the relevant information to the standards department to enable efficient transfer to operationsEffectively utilise design information to assist with RCAs and customer feedbackEnsure that plant layouts are in place, up to date and stored in the document libraryThe ideal candidate should meet the following requirements:BSc degree in Mechanical Engineering3D CAD and simulation software including the application thereof plus Solid Edge and NX experience4 years practical experience in a product development environment, which should include experience in engineering simulation and product optimisation within a manufacturing environmentGood mathematical and engineering design backgroundProven experience in rapid prototypingAbility to communicate well across all levels of the organisation and with external suppliers/customersAbility to think analytically and creatively to optimise designs and solve complex problems
