POSITION: Contract Description: Design and maintain optimal data models/structures atboth an enterprise and system / application level that meet the business and architecturalobjectives of the organization. Create structures that enable data to be persisted in a structured way toenable the value of the data to be unlocked. Create appropriate data and class structures that enable the flow of data between providers and consumers. Where required, lead a team of modelers performingthis work MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Education · Bachelorof Commerce, Bachelor of Science: Information Systems / Computer ScienceHonours level Experience · 5-8yrsIT related experience with 5yrs+ in a Data Modelling role · Ableto demonstrate practical experience in relational and dimensional modellingtechniques as well as leading teams of data modelers · Hasdemonstratable experience in developing custom data models as well as datamodelling utilizing Industrydata models such as IFW BFMDW · Experiencein compiling and monitoring standards and developing/maturing a data modellingpractice · OOmodelling experience also an advantage · Experienceusing Infosphere Data Architect or any other Data Modelling Tool · Firmunderstanding of Data Management (DMBOK), systems development lifecyclemethodologies and ITArchitecture · Relevantregulatory knowledge, and understanding of banking and financial services · Experiencein NoSQL and other forms of database modelling advantageous Skills required: · DataGovernance - Basic · DataArchitecture Management - Basic · PatternRecognition, conceptual and abstract thinking - Advanced · DevOpsTooling and methodologies · Problemsolving and creativity - Advanced · Dataanalysis and inference - Advanced · DataIntegrity - Advanced · DataWarehouse Layers - Advanced · DataQuality - Advanced · DataWarehousing Overview and Architecture - Advanced · UsingSQL in Databases - Intermediate · Dataand business requirements Gathering - Advanced · Masterand Reference Data Management - Basic RESPONSIBILITIESINCLUDE: · Designdata models that meet the business requirements and align to the agreedarchitecture framework. · Ensuredata modelling deliverables are delivered according to project plan and budgetto meet commitmentto stakeholders. · Ensureall data modelling activities and deliverables are aligned to the developmentmethodology and to the data modelling principles and standards · Applythe client approved tooling to create the data modelling deliverables. · Adoptthe Enterprise Data Model (which is based on the IFW) as a standard for datamodel designs to leveragebest practice and fast track data modelling efforts. · Translatebusiness requirements into data requirements. · Analyseand profile the source data to understand data quality issues, relationships,patterns and rules in the data. · Structuredata requirements into logical data constructs based on the Enterprise Data Model,including · ERDmodels, dimensional models to ensure optimal implementation. · CompileSource to Target Mapping Specifications including the appropriateTransformation Rules · Identifyingdefinitive or authoritative source of data; analysing source data; andidentifying gaps to target structures · Enablephysical implementation of the data structure by generating the first cutphysical data model from the logical data model. · Facilitatedataflow understanding by collating dataflow diagrams outlining the flow ofdata across systems and interfaces. · Reducenon-value adding work by identifying opportunity for re-use of the EnterpriseData Model · Maintainup to date knowledge of latest developments in the Data Modelling domain,including reading; continuous professional development courses; seminars andconferences. · Assiststo provide a comprehensive governed framework by working with the datamodelling CoE and contributing towards defining the data modelling standards. · Advisestakeholders and other staff on application of data modelling practices throughconsultation. · Ensureconsistency and re-use of data models by acting as a primary advocate of datamodeling activities and methodologies and by driving the adoption of enterprisedata modelling across the bank. · Ensureimproved performance by providing feedback on improvements to the datamodelling framework. · Performreview on work performed by team members as well as review and govern workperformed by other modelling teams · Identifyopportunities to improve or enhance processes. · ProvideOverall Data Management Guidance and alignment to Client's Data Managementframework and standards · Seekopportunities to improve business processes, models and systems though agilethinking. · Supportthe achievement of the business strategy, objectives and values · Contributeto the client Culture building initiatives (e.g. staff surveys etc.). · Participate and supportcorporate responsibility initiatives for the achievement of business strategy
