Job Description:The Senior Coordinator Financial Accounting uses a deep technical knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), commercial understanding of the mining industry, analytical skill and strong interpersonal skills to ensure all financial results are compliant with IFRS. The role involves more than the coordination of the various reporting preparation processes. You will be responsible for processing and compiling financial transactions in the accounting records at Corporate.
Preparing the consolidated financial statements of the Anglo American Platinum Limited and the standalone financial statements of various subsidiaries.
Engagement with external auditors and required internal stakeholders.
Drafting of technical accounting papers, assisting with the implementation of the outcomes and to ensure appropriate recording thereof.
Assist in drafting of audit committee papers, including solvency and liquidity analyses.
Provides advice to relevant stakeholders about the reporting and control implications of new transactions or changes to existing processes.
Stays up-to-date with accounting developments and proactively manages the impact of such developments on external reporting, including responding to ad-hoc technical accounting queries.
With a strong focus on month end, including standard monthly journals, general ledger reconciliations and reporting financial information to internal management and key stakeholders.
Preparing calculations and schedules in accounting for complex transactions such as environmental rehabilitation obligations, mergers and acquisitions and IFRS 16 leases.
This role is in the Finance Department at a Band 6 level reporting to the Technical Accounting Principal.
Qualifications:Chartered Accountant CA(SA)
Experience
5 years’ experience dealing with complex financial accounting within a large organisation
Big 4 experience
Mining industry experience is beneficial
Knowledge and skills
SAP advantageous
Wdesk (Workiva) advantageous
Strong IFRS technical background
