Purpose of the Position:
This role is responsible for driving the execution of the payments strategy, continuous improvement and innovation of payments platforms and defining the optimal customer experience for payments across digital and traditional channels. The person will ensure a payment ecosystem are aligned to B2B and B2C best practice methodologies and the customer experience journey in line with the organizational strategy. This is a cross-functional role; in addition to your responsibilities, you will be working closely with Systems, Digital, Finance, Data, Marketing, Billing teams to identify, prioritize and deliver a best-in-class payments.
Key Performance Objectives
Tasks
Stakeholder engagement and partner management
Actively collaborate and work with markets to evaluate existing payment capabilities within and outside of the MultiChoice group
Establish and maintain close relationship with in country and corporate stakeholders
Engage with MultiChoice Group partners / vendors for ongoing SLA management and contract reviews
Support project team
Collaborate with the business analysts ensuring that business processes and requirements being defined align to industry best practice standards and principles
Participate in process definition and requirement elicitation workshops as Payment subject matter expert in an advisory capacity
Review already defined strategies, processes, functional requirements, data requirements and reporting requirements to assist with the identification of possible gaps and assist in resolving any gaps identified
Participate in technology evaluations to ensure that the technology supports the overall group Payment strategy, but also aligns to industry best practice standards and principles
Technology evaluation & implementation
Participate in RFP process and technology evaluations to ensure that the selected technology support the overall group Payment strategy, but also aligns to industry best practice standards and principles
Collaborate with the various stakeholders and participate in the testing to ensure that the technology delivered aligns to defined requirements and support the overall group Payment strategy
Payments metrics and reporting
Consolidate and deliver portfolio level reporting
Report on success of objectives and monitor progress
Develop analytics / measures to show payment progress / successes, volumes and insights that are supported by our various countries
Apply data analytics to understand revenue drivers
Manage a portfolio of strategic work to deliver best in class payment experience
Support the assigned business leads / product owners with the payment prioritised backlog
Support payment projects and implementation of the Payment Strategy into all markets
Work with Digital teams on e-commerce platforms
Suggest new optimization methods to improve customer experience
Possess an in-depth understanding of payment environment
Optimize global revenue collection operations across multiple payment platforms with multiple languages and currencies
Support updating and delivery of payment, billing and self-service strategy and roadmap, that is continuously refined and updated
Incubate payment innovations
Optimise the payment processes in line with evolving market conditions
Provide the stakeholders with insights on new global / local market trends, technology trends & competitive intelligence relating to their portfolio.
Research external payment providers to provide insights to inform strategy updates
Strategise impact of risk/fraud within payment platforms
Recommend new payment methods that can provide incremental value
CX measures for payments
Inform customer experience journeys and differentiated payments propositions across customer segments, for both traditional and digital channels
Provide assurance to visibly show CX improvements across the customer journey
Governance and regulatory compliance
Ensuring compliance to specific payment regulation in each market (e.g. GDPR, PSD2, ISO/TR 21941, ISO 20022, PCI DSS, ISO 12812, ISO 8000)
Ensuring compliance to tax regulation in each market with the guidance of legal and regulatory team
Establish payment policies and ensure that these policies are updated on a periodic basis to reflect regulatory changes
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
Post Grad Degree in a Quantitative Discipline/ Financial Management/ Accounting/Technology or similar qualification
7 to 10 years experience in the payment industry across payment providers, platforms, payment methods (e.g. card interchange, wires, RTGS, cross border settlement etc), technologies, processes (cash management operations / payment operations)
Experience in business analysis advantageous
Payments business knowledge is essential
Experience with SDLC methodologies and structures systems analysis and design
Strong understanding of Pan African financial services specifically related to payments and payments processing
Strong understanding of payments ecosystems in Pan African regions and Globally
Strong understanding of fintechs landscape
Ability to develop and foster strong relationships with internal and external partners
Ability to think creatively to support business process improvements
