Details of the offer

The position is responsible for ensuring that the office of the General Manager operates professionally, efficiently and effectively

Manage the diary and office of the General Manager Product Development.
Organise all business arrangements and visitors programmes for department e.g. meetings, travel, functions, lunch and refreshments, flights, accommodation, etc. and provide a reception point for guests/clients.
Manage all travel arrangements for the Product Development Group through travel agents both locally and internationally.
Manage incoming and outgoing correspondence.
Liaise with senior officials from government, industry, corporate customers and senior executives of the Denel Group.
Draft minutes/agendas for meetings and type documents.
Execute all general office administration viz filing and record keeping. Manage and execute arrangements for annual conference with Armscor and South African National Defence Force officials.
All ad hoc duties and projects.


Minimum Grade 12 and a Secretarial Diploma/Certificate or relevant NQF 4 equivalent qualification.
Broad experience in secretarial duties within a corporate environment.
Good typing and shorthand skills.
Application of best practice in office management and continuous improvement.
Appreciation/ understanding of business systems/ company policy and procedure.
Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
Excellent interpersonal skills and customer service orientation.
Excellent communication skills and high level of professionalism.
Strong planning and administrative skills with a highly organised approach.
Ability to work independently, show initiative and demonstrate good judgement.
Fully computer literate (all MS Office packages). Experience in SAP desirable.
High level of integrity, confidentiality and office protocol.
Fluent in English (Read write and understand). Proficiency in Afrikaans desirable.
Willing to work after hours from time to time.
