The School Operations Support Specialist provides data-related operational program and platform support for Pearson’s Online and Blended Learning’s virtual schools (Connections Academy schools) and programs. Cross-trained in the execution of all the team's operational support duties, the specialist serves as a versatile and interchangeable team-player assisting with all team functions.
The School Operational Specialist is a person that loves data and data management, thrives in a process-oriented environment, has a strong customer-centric and service-oriented approach, and is comfortable with continually shifting responsibilities and needs. The Specialist is a “do whatever it takes” type of person that is willing to roll up his/her sleeves and dive into projects, both large and small. A strong focus on data, systematic thinking processes, and a team-player attitude are essential.
Responsibilities
Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of Pearson OBL’s current learning and student information system platforms (Connexus and Pearson Connexus), how they function, how to locate and extract data from them, and how schools utilize them to support learning and reporting needs.

Manage, extract, manipulate, and post large sets of data and reports that provide schools and school leaders with pertinent school, student, and staff performance metrics (accountability reports, student status reports, escalation of student issues, etc.).

Pull routine reports; post metrics for regular school use and reflection.

Access, review, and summarize needs from daily class/section/roster monitoring reports generated from the learning management system; Assist school representatives with understanding and resolving course section-related issues that potentially affect learning, reporting, and funding (related to properly entering and maintaining student and teacher start and end dates, teacher assignments, course associations, grading scales, and school calendar needs).

Assist with the collection, tracking, and centralized management of key school data that trigger school events, reports, and technical processes (such as assigning school representatives, monitoring key school dates, managing school calendars and start dates, etc.) in the learning management system.

Assist with the set-up and maintenance of various demo user accounts in the learning systems (utilized for training and testing purposes); participate in quality assurance testing processes utilizing the demo accounts; help monitor and maintain the upkeep of the demo account roles and permissions.

Provide ongoing user platform support in a cooperative and collaborative manner as it relates to data access, reporting, and effectively utilizing reporting tools.

Collaborate with team members to problem-solve and troubleshoot various incoming platform support questions or inquiries (typically related to class section management, data use and access, reporting maintenance and support, and course access).

Collaborate with other departments and teams to solve ongoing operational issues and to refine processes (course management, school program managers, school representatives, platform management technicians, academic services, customer support, state reporting, etc.)

Work with and support leadership to ensure student learning is fully supported, operational tasks progress fully and on time, and processes are continually reevaluated for efficiencies.

Qualifications
Degree in education, education technology, mathematics, or a related field preferred
Open to follow a work schedule following Central or Eastern Standard Time Zone.
High degree of comfort and experience with technology, data systems, learning platforms, and reporting tools, preferably within an educationally based organization
Familiarity with Pearson OBL’s internal and external learning platforms and data systems (Connexus, PCx - Pearson Connexus) highly preferable
High level of confidence and proficiency with data and reporting tools such as Excel and PowerBi
Self-Starter; ability to collect, organize, prioritize, and complete data-related projects; ability to self-organize and prioritize tasks and requests to accomplish goals in a timely manner
Strong customer focus; demonstrated experience of successfully working with clients and customers to solve problems
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability and interest in developing and improving operational support processes
Detail-oriented
High degree of flexibility; ability to handle simultaneous/concurrent needs and requests as well as the ambiguity and uncertainty of launching and supporting new product releases
High degree of decency, accountability, and collaboration; a true “team-player” focused on the mission of the organization
