Ivanplats is looking for a suitably qualified and experienced Safety Officer to join their dynamic team .The Safety Officer is a legal appointment in terms of regulation 2.17.1 of the MHSA. The Role is responsible for the development, implementation and management of safety and risk control programmes, as well as ensuring legal compliance and provision of a safety advisory and reporting service to the Mine Manager.
Job description

Conduct legal Inspections as required by MHSA
Ensure safety and risk results meet targets
Ensure workplace risk and hazards are identified
Capture inspections in Isometrix
Over-inspect Contractor legal inspections
Recommend control measures where necessary
Ensure safety training meets legal requirements
Support safety initiatives/campaigns
Ensure accident/incident investigations are conducted in line with the procedure.
Enforce compliance to procedures and policies
Personal competencies / characteristics requiredVerbal and written communication
Presentation skill
Ability to interact with persons at all levels
Attention to detail
Comfortable working independently with minimal supervision
Minimum requirements

Medical Certificate of fitness is a pre-requisite.
National Diploma in Safety Management or Equivalent
Trade Cerificate or Blasting Certificate
Basic Software Knowledge (MS Power point, Word, Excel)
Quick typing skill
Organisational and time skills
Ms Office Word, Excel , Powerpoint
3 years experience as Safety Officer in a mining environment
Advantageous: BTech Degree in Safety Management
