An exciting new opportunity has just become available in our Buying Department for a resilient, influential and resourceful Retail Buying Manager who can add value to our Footwear Team through the successful delivery and management of the merchandise sourcing strategy for Footwear (Tread + Miller, Old Khaki, Poetry and Cape Union Mart) .
The successful candidate will be responsible for conceptualizing and overseeing the end-to-end buying process of a broad range of Footwear and therefore should have the ability to significantly contribute towards the achievement of the department and business objectives as well as have the high energy levels required for this fast-paced, exciting and dynamic retail environment
REQUIREMENTS
Key Responsibilities include:Manage the merchandise buying process to ensure the on-time delivery of product as per the set timeframes
Lead, manage and develop the Footwear Buying Team to reach their full potential within their respective areas
Formulate, influence and drive the departments product strategy in line with the departments Business Plan and Company objectives
Oversee and influence product selection to ensure ranges are balanced and meet the departmental needs of the various chain strategies
Implement/Manage effective supplier management policies, procedures and service level agreements
Ensure that correct suppliers are sourced, selected and managed according to the set Company policies and supplier SLA’s
Implement and execute quick response strategies
Manage the departments budgets through ensuring that inflows, price margins and GP Rands achieve and exceed the set seasonal plans
Build and maintain effective cross-functional partnerships with all key stakeholders (Planning, Marketing, Operations, Shipping, the DC, etc.) to achieve the departmental and business goals
Collate and review monthly competitor reports from the team to identify trends
Optimize the department’s performance and the achievement of required outcomes through effective people management
Occasional local and overseas travel
Supporting and participating in the execution of projects and interventions
Driving continuous improvement and self-development
Executing and delivering on ad-hoc duties and responsibilities
Driving the company culture and values
Qualifications and Experience Required
Matric and a relevant tertiary qualification is required
5 years of retail buying experience including at least 2 years of experience in a relevant leadership role is essential
Experience working in a fashion retail environment is an important requirement. Preference will be given to candidates with Footwear experience and a good understanding of the South African Footwear market
Working knowledge of the retail cycle and merchandise buying principles and processes is required
A clear understanding of footwear styling, components and construction is vital
Practical knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook (Preference will be given to candidates with advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Excel)
Practical knowledge of Microsoft Sharepoint would be advantageous
Experience working with PLM systems would be advantageous
Sound business acumen is required
A valid driver’s license is preferred
