Our client, a leading company in the civil and construction sector, is looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor/Contracts Manager to join their team.
This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled professional with strong technical, contractual, and financial expertise to contribute to high-impact projects.
Key Responsibilities Cost Estimation & Project Planning Conduct material, labour, and cost estimations based on project specifications.
Understand construction methods, engineering principles, and industry materials.
Develop and oversee project timelines using Primavera P6 or MS Project .
Contract Administration & Risk Management Oversee contract execution, ensuring compliance from initiation to completion.
Work with various contract frameworks, including NEC, FIDIC, JBCC, GCC, or local agreements.
Identify and mitigate project risks related to scope changes, disputes, and delays.
Manage contract variations and ensure all documentation is accurately maintained.
Financial Oversight & Budget Control Monitor and control project budgets, ensuring financial targets are met.
Prepare and manage Bills of Quantities (BOQ) for tendering and execution.
Evaluate work progress and certify contractor payments accordingly.
Regulatory Compliance & Dispute Resolution Ensure adherence to construction laws, building codes, and safety regulations .
Manage claims and resolve disputes through negotiation or arbitration when necessary.
Stakeholder Engagement & Negotiation Act as a key liaison between clients, contractors, engineers, and regulatory bodies.
Negotiate contract terms, pricing, and scope changes effectively.
Provide detailed reports on project costs, variations, and claims.
Technical Software Skills Proficiency in CCS Candy & MS Excel for cost management and financial tracking.
Experience with Primavera P6 / MS Project for scheduling and resource planning.
Requirements: Education BSc in Quantity Surveying / Construction Management OR Diploma in Building and Quantity Surveying Professional Memberships RICS (Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors) SACQSP (South African Council for the Quantity Surveying Profession) Experience 3-5 years of experience in quantity surveying or contract management.
