Quality Manager Purpose of the position The Quality Assurance Manager will be in charge of the quality assurance side of the business, He/She will supervises and coordinates work systems to ensure that the products or services of the company meet the highest quality standards and that the working conditions of the company are favourable and safe. Guide, Lead and advises line management in Factory, Office and on Site of quality matters and manages this process to ensure all advice is incorporated into day to day processes and operations. Be the interface with the customer and suppliers to cover any quality protocols to ensure that the products that are delivered to the customer meet the quality standards and safety requirements set out by the business, tied to the contract obligation to the customer on quality. Primary Objectives Quality Assurance: Drive regular GEMBA walks with line leaders through the plant operations. Determines the strategic direction and work priorities (in conjunction with line management) for the continuous improvement of the Wabtec Quality Assurance Management programme and systems; Ability to lead and grow the quality team and process with a hands-on approach with leading the team, willing to work directly with the Production and Service team, QC staff, assist in the inspections, parts validation, inline production inspection. Prepares the complete quality assurance plan for each product and implement quality gates/walls for areas that have been identified as NCR spikes; Develops inspection sheets for each outgoing and incoming product for quality technicians to update and flow process; Implementation of Global systems on quality control functional reporting, Work with operations, services and warehouse manager to develop processes for managing quality snags and documentation; To assist in retaining all current quality accredited suppliers and work towards the attainment of new quality accredited suppliers; Ensure the control and monitoring of measuring and test equipment, and that all measuring equipment are within their calibration schedule or status; Ensure the connection and communication between Production, Planning and Logistics is clear for QC team to complete the daily requirements to inspect incoming and inline or final assembly parts to meet operational requirements. Ensure that, on each project an inspection schedule is formulated & implemented by the Quality Engineering Technicians; Manage the Quality Engineering Technicians so it is possible for them to achieve their daily, weekly and monthly goals and meet project quality targets and requirements; Evaluate engineering proposals, shop drawings and design comments for sound engineering practice and conformance with established safety and design criteria, and recommend approval or disapproval; Review existing engineering criteria to identify necessary revisions, deletions or amendments to outdated material; Develop, maintain and implement the required legal and Quality standards as well as ISO 9001 in line with world class requirements; Ensure that the ISO 9001 system is maintained and updated accordingly, and certification is completed successfully and timely; Collaborate with production personnel to identify, define and solve quality problems; Ensure that the Quality Engineering Technicians conduct daily inspections of incoming goods, in-process and Final process, maintain Oracle data correctly and guarantee the traceability according to the requirements and to pass all necessary QC and inspection documents to warehouse team; Coordinates product-testing processes. Participates in product testing; Identifies and analyses issues, bugs, defects, and other problems, particularly when problems recur in multiple products; recommends and facilitates solutions to these issues. Reviews client, customer, and user feedback. Ensure that the Quality Engineering Technicians conduct FAI inspections at suppliers’ premises for quality control and assurance programs, Compile a report to highlight any equipment failures, product defects, materials and identify the cause of errors or other problems; Reporting, Monitoring and following up of internal and external non-conformances by KPI; Perform other duties as assigned; Ability to operate a CMM (coordinate measuring machine) equipment effectively to perform measuring of components. Complete clear and accurate information on the Wabtec global’ QER (Quality Event Report) System, follow-up and update the status of the events on a weekly basis; Conduct internal and Supplier quality audits and compile accurate quality control reports; Liaise with Quality Engineering Technicians and Production Supervisors to plan for daily in-process and final inspections; Analyse and interpret test information to resolve design-related problems; Assist in the interviewing, selection and recruitment of adequately trained and capable personnel; Complete weekly / monthly management and quality status report; Identify and investigate specific quality problems; Review quality records and registers to identify recurring problem areas (Trends); Manage and assist in project quality audit programs; Evaluate the validity and acceptability of inspection results; Monitor and Close out S/CAR's and Non-conformances, where applicable; Managing and taking responsibility for all ECR processes and document control Maintains and improves product quality by completing product, company, system, compliance, and surveillance audits; investigating customer complaints; collaborating with other members of management to develop new product and engineering designs, and manufacturing and training methods. Supplier process audits and inspection as required. Customer site visits and support as required. Regular production site audits to be conducted on site at our facility tied to improvement plan or corrective action. EXPERIENCE: Minimum Experience 10 years in the relevant field, specifically capital projects, Manufacturing/ Production experience, rail rolling stock experience preferred; Know and understand Client and Project quality requirements and specifications; Worked as a QC Manager for at least the past 5-10 years or had QC personnel reported to you as a project leader/ overseer; Worked with national and international quality codes (ISO 9001 preferred); Experience as a lead auditor; Enhances department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments. Assure that supplier corrective and preventative action plans are developed and implemented effectively. Implemented QC documentation and start up in new lines. Experience with MRP-Systems. QUALIFICATIONS: Tertiary qualification related to quality assurance and management; Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Quality Management preferred; ISO 9001 Quality Management compliance training and or experience/Internal Auditing; Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word and PowerPoint); 10 years of experience in a related field required with Managerial experience a must.
