The world leader in mineral-based specialty solutions for industry, have a vacancy for a Purchasing Manager based in Centurion , Head office South Africa. Purpose of the Role: The Plant Purchasing Manager will ensure the operational continuity of the different sites of his/her perimeter. Key Tasks and Responsibilities Be the single point of contact to the plant managers of the designated sites.(scope will be 1 PPM for several plants). Gathering the local purchasing requirements: anticipate, collect and optimize the sites requirements in terms of quantity and specifications. Ensure internal customer satisfaction with the performance of the purchasing team. Entry point for all purchase requests. Supplier quality management. Close collaboration with supply chain / procurement. Responsible for the deployment of global / regional category management policy Work closely with regional category managers (indirect, transport, energy, chemicals, packaging, raw materials, mining, capex, etc). Ensure compliance with purchasing strategy and policy at site level Organize and coordinate local trials with the suppliers selected by the category managers. Lead new purchasing initiatives at cross-clusters or at country level, on a case by case basis. Responsible of local purchase Responsible of the purchase contracts for local purchase opex / capex Support deployment of larger Capex on his/her sites Frequent local presence in the different sites of his perimeter Sourcing new suppliers and negotiating contracts Propose and manage local purchase synergies Monitoring suppliers ‘performance, KPI’s Reporting and analysis, collect and report the sites financial performance including tracking of target savings Compliance with the DTI’s BBBEE Scorecard and DMR’s Mining Charter Scorecard: To collaborate and ensure a close working relationship with the Imerys South Africa’s Ethics & Transformation Department in ensuring that the Procurement and Enterprise Development requirements of the BBBEE and Mining Charter Scorecards are fulfilled. To ensure that the BBBEE certification and status of all suppliers are confirmed and documentation is available. To ensure that all the necessary procurement and enterprise development information is available and submitted during the annual audits relating to BBBEE scorecard certification. To development an Enterprise Development program in consultation with the Ethics and Transformation Department to ensure that the BBBEE and Mining Charter Scorecards requirements are fulfilled and the relevant points are obtained. To promote and prioritise the use of black, women and community suppliers as envisaged in the BBBEE and Mining Charter Scorecards Job Specifications-Education and Experience Requirements Degree in purchasing or procurement 5-10 relevant experience within the mining industry Must have intermediate level MS excel competency Qualifications; Experience; Knowledge, skills and attributes Knowledge, skills, abilities and other characteristics (Identify skills/attributes required for this position which may. include leadership, problem solving, interpersonal, communications, planning, team participation skills, and/or language requirements. Highly motivated and proactive driver of change. Strong negotiation and communication skills – both internally and externally. Ability to have a global view and link business need to purchasing strategy. Confident decision maker. Proficient in MS Office software, experience in bespoke Imerys systems (e.g. IFS, 7 Steps) an advantage Ability to quickly understand high level technical elements of the category being handled. Understanding and actively promote the procurement cycle. Have the ability to support and champion the development and introduction of effective purchasing methods and tools. Responsible for the Broad Based Black Economic Empowerment strategy related to Enterprise and Supplier Development - DTI scorecard. Responsible for Mining Charter strategy related to Procurement. Knowledge and understanding of the South African legislation especially relating to transformation including the BBBEE Act, MPRDA,Companies Act, etc is an added advantage.
