Job Overview We are seeking an experienced and professionally registered Project Manager to lead the full lifecycle execution of utility-scale and commercial BESS and hybrid solar projects.
The ideal candidate will have a solid background in EPC project delivery and proven experience in managing large-scale renewable energy projects across multidisciplinary teams.
Youll be responsible for planning, procurement, execution, commissioning, and handover within budget and schedule while ensuring the highest safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities Lead end-to-end project delivery of BESS and hybrid renewable energy projects.
Develop detailed project execution plans, schedules, budgets, and risk registers.
Coordinate design, procurement, construction, and commissioning activities.
Ensure compliance with local regulations, environmental standards, and HSE requirements.
Manage stakeholder engagement: clients, utilities, contractors, consultants, and authorities.
Chair project meetings and provide regular progress reports to executive management.
Negotiate contracts and oversee procurement of critical components and services.
Control project scope, costs, and change orders.
Oversee quality assurance and project documentation.
Ensure proper grid integration and interconnection compliance.
Maintain project performance tracking and report on key KPIs.
Requirements Qualifications BSc/BEng degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering.
PMP/Prince2 certification or ECSA Registration (Pr Eng or Pr Tech Eng) is highly desirable.
MBA or postgrad in Project Management is advantageous.
Experience Minimum 610 years in project management of utility-scale renewable energy projects.
At least 23 years in direct BESS project experience (from feasibility to commissioning).
Proven EPC experience managing multi-disciplinary teams and subcontractors.
Familiar with storage technologies, inverters, and grid compliance standards.
Understanding of electrical system design, SCADA, protection schemes, and grid codes.
Technical & Soft Skills Excellent planning and organizational skills.
Contract negotiation and vendor management experience.
Proficiency in MS Project, Primavera, AutoCAD, and project finance basics.
Strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.
Ability to work under pressure and lead concurrent projects.
Willingness to travel nationally and across Africa.
