The Big Picture:
Howden Africa Compressor & Turbine Division is looking for an experienced Project Engineer to plan, cost, coordinate, and manage assigned Workshop Repair and Field Services projects for the overhaul, repair, revamp, manufacturing, installation, and modernisation of rotating equipment. Lead Howden project coordination to ensure the highest level of customer satisfaction with our services and equipment. Coordinate the interface between the client and the various groups within Howden involved in the quotation, contract review, order entry, staffing, purchasing, execution, invoicing and collections. The position will be based in Sasolburg.
What needs to be done?
Ensure the safe conduct of the project. Ensuring all company and client safety policies and procedures followed and embraced to promote a safe working environment.
Work closely with Workshop team, Field Services team and customers to put the best mix of talent in the right projects, on time and correctly, to ensure customer satisfaction consistent with our objectives.
Prepare costings and proposals for workshop and field projects working with Sales Engineers to customer requirements.
Prepare comprehensive Workshop and Field Service project scope packs to ensure Workshop Team and FSR’s are fully aware of project delivery requirements and time, cost and quality targets.
Develop risk management and contingency plans with Safety Department.
Communicate with the client on progress and work scope changes capturing client approval and purchase order for changes /additions.
Ensure that subcontractors perform as agreed and comply with safety and cost requirements.
Liaise with the Quality department in the creation, approval and maintenance of quality plans.
Deliver project on targets to support the achievement of departmental bookings and sales.
Capture order information on the ERP system to ensure timeous delivery and payment of suppliers.
Prepare reports on all services rendered for customer support
Prepare timesheets for service work and submit to accounts for allocation of man-hours to jobs.
Maintain all aspects of projects managed on AX, budget and forecasts
What do you need to bring?
Diploma/ Degree in Mechanical Engineering
Minimum 5 years project management experience
Technical knowledge of Rotating Equipment, Reciprocating Compressors, Gas Compressor Engines & Steam Turbines.
Knowledge of quality management systems and EHS practices and requirements
Good negotiation skills.
Customer-facing experience and strong communication skills a must.
Intermediate knowledge in Microsoft Word, Excel and Projects
A valid Code 08 driver’s licence.
