Cape Town, South Africa | Posted on 17/10/2024The Project Cost Planner will play a critical role in ensuring the successful financial planning, budgeting, and cost management of various projects within the organization. This role involves collaborating with project managers and stakeholders to develop comprehensive cost estimates, track project expenditures, and implement cost control measures. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, a deep understanding of project management principles, and relevant cost planning qualifications.ResponsibilitiesDevelop and maintain detailed cost estimates for projects at various stages (preliminary, detailed, and final).Analyze project requirements and specifications to identify all cost components.Create and manage project budgets, ensuring alignment with organizational financial goals.Monitor budget performance throughout the project lifecycle, providing regular updates to stakeholders.Implement cost control measures and methodologies to track and report on project expenditures.Identify cost-saving opportunities and recommend strategies to optimize project finances.Prepare and present comprehensive financial reports to project teams and management.Utilize forecasting techniques to predict future project costs and variances.Work closely with project managers, finance teams, and other stakeholders to ensure financial alignment.Facilitate communication regarding financial performance and budgetary issues.Assess financial risks associated with projects and develop mitigation strategies.Conduct cost-benefit analyses to inform decision-making.Ensure compliance with organizational policies and industry regulations regarding cost management.Stay updated on best practices and trends in project cost.RequirementsQualificationsNQF Level 6 in Project Management or equivalent.Relevant cost planning qualification (e.g., Cost Engineering, Quantity Surveying).Experience:Minimum of 5 years in project cost planning, with demonstrable experience in budgeting and financial management.Skills:Strong analytical and mathematical skills.Proficiency in project management software and financial modeling tools.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
