Production Manager

PURPOSE: Lead the manufacturing function within budget and output targets to meet customer requirements and standards. Ensure safety, customer quality, cost and delivery requirements are met.Responsible for developing an enthusiastic, motivated and flexible team by building working relationships ensuring that Health, Safety and Environmental requirements are adhered to.Manage the team on best practice and establish standard policies and procedures whilst also mentoring and leading teams.Implement and manage continuous improvement and modern manufacturing principals by highlighting deficiencies and recommending changes in training, working practices and processes.MAJOR TASKS: To ensure safety and legal requirements are met at all times.To train and develop production staff.To develop and maintain production processes relevant to the business management system.To achieve the agreed Production targets and objectives.To manage outsourced contractorsAssist in production and maintenance ProjectsProperty and Buildings (facilities) managementEnsures the availability of machines and equipment for efficient operations.Ensures availability of machine parts for maintenance process.Conduct internal electrical surveys and complete registers in accordance to the OHS Act.Develop and run the maintenance program.To manage KD warehouse (Component, printing and packaging) SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES Objective and results driven.People skills.Communication skills at all levels.Be able to develop and implement production control systems.Team player (Part of Production team)A diagnostic approach to solving breakdown problems as well as other maintenance problemsPLC Diagnostic skillsAccuracy with paperwork / documentation / data capturingKnowledge on wiring electrical requirements.To read and interpret machine drawings.ATTRIBUTESExcellent leadership and man- management skillsExcellent interpersonal skillsAbility to manage a variety of cross-functional team membersExcellent written, verbal and presentation skillsExcellent organizational and follow-up skillsCompetent in problem solving, team building, planning and decision makingCommercial and Financial acumen AUTHORITYManage the department within the limits of the Companys policies and procedures and limits of authorityTo stop any process that is not conforming to requirements and to take corrective and preventative action to eliminate any further non-conformances.To take disciplinary action against subordinates if and when required.
