Production/Farm Manager (Fruit Sector)

Our client, located between Laingsburg and Ladysmith is looking for a dynamic, reliable and experienced Production Manager for their farming operation.The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day management of 43 hectares of deciduous fruit, primarily stone fruit, as well as overseeing a livestock enterprise.RESPONSIBILITIES:Full production management of 43 ha of deciduous fruit (predominantly stone fruit)On-farm drying facility for own production and fresh produce supplied by neighbouring farms (seasonal handling of volumes more than 1000 fresh tonnes)Planning, coordination, and implementation of all orchard activities and production processesStaff supervision and labour planningIrrigation and fertilization managementQuality control and harvest planningHandle and utilize the administration related to production to promote efficiencyOversight and management of livestock operations (± 50 ewes)Compliance with health, safety, and agricultural regulationsREQUIREMENTS:Minimum 5-8 years' experience in deciduous fruit productionRelevant qualification (diploma / degree in horticulture, soil science, etc.
)Proven experience in people managementAdministrative skills with good computer literacyExtensive knowledge of modern farming practices which should include orchard establishment, pruning, tree manipulation, irrigation etc.A code 10-14 / C1-EC licence with PDP would be an advantage.
