Job Description:
The Phlebotomy and Accessioning Supervisor position reports to the Laboratory Manager of the Clinical Chemistry Core at Pennington Biomedical Research Center and exists for the purpose of performing and providing direct supervision to staff performing both pre-analytical and post-analytical sample collection and processing activities in support of clinical research trials. The Phlebotomy and Accessioning Supervisor will be responsible for the ongoing management of their staff, which will include, but not be limited to, training and competency assessment, ensuring appropriate work scheduling, partnering with staff to create and execute personal development plans, and participating with the Laboratory Manager in conducting performance reviews. Transports, processes, stores, and ships laboratory specimens according to laboratory requisition and laboratory manual instructions. Participates in the laboratory’s Quality Improvement program. Participates in internal and external audits and quality management activities to ensure laboratory compliance with the applicable quality standards and regulatory requirements. Develops study specific laboratory requisitions, labels, specimen inventory logs, and other documents required to facilitate the laboratory process. Coordinates the laboratory process with phlebotomy staff, accessioning staff, nursing staff, clinic staff and principle investigators. Participates on laboratory teams assembled to support data collection performed in the field for clinical trials conducted by the Department of Defense. At least Two (2) years of experience performing phlebotomy and/or specimen processing in a clinical or research laboratory environment preferred; or
2. At least Two (2) years of experience in a clinical, or research laboratory environment preferred; or
