KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREASPerform a variety of routine and complex blood and specimen collecting procedures in line with professional standards and regulatory requirements to ensure safe patient careConduct pre-and post-test counselling to patients and family members, to explain blood draw procedures and answer any questions about the processIdentify, prevent and report risks to ensure patient safety and follow all health and safety protocols and procedures to maintain a sterile work areaPerform administrative tasks to ensure correct and accurate recording and processing of patient and clinical informationEnsure that all utilised stock is accurately recorded and chargedBuild and maintain collaborative working relationships, as part of the multi-disciplinary team within the EC UnitREQUIRED EDUCATIONESSENTIAL EDUCATION Registered/Enrolled Nurse, or Certification in Phlebotomy Technology
REQUIRED EXPERIENCEESSENTIAL MINIMUM EXPERIENCE At least 1 - 2 years' experience after nursing/phlebotomy qualificationREQUIRED JOB SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGERelevant statutory and regulatory requirements, clinical policies and proceduresPatient counselling skillsInfection Prevention and Control (IPC) protocolsHealth and Safety principlesPatient experience principles and related best practiceBasic life support trainedComputer Literacy (Microsoft Office)All applicants will be considered, with the understanding that preference will be given in accordance with the Employment Equity Plan of Mediclinic Southern Africa, as well as internal applicants/employees that meet the minimum requirements.
