The Pharmacy Manager will be responsible for ensuring the development and implementation of a strategy for the pharmacy department in line with Pharmacy Division’s strategic themes and that of the Hospital. The incumbent will further manage all related pharmacy services and activities according to the policies, procedures, philosophy and objectives of the Group. This will include (not limited to) the provision of medication and supplementary services to patients and other stakeholders. The Pharmacist will also assume responsibility for meeting patients’ needs in a responsible, satisfactory and cost-effective manner.
Duties and Responsibilities
Manage the pharmacy financials as well as understanding the financial fundamentals of the healthcare business
Manage all aspects of the retail pharmacy business including optimizing prescription and front shop sales
Management of patient pharmaceutical care in the hospital comprising both hospital and retail pharmacy environments
Ensure that the pharmaceutical standards, quality assurance and risk management is maintained within the hospital
Leverage appropriate internal and external channels to ensure urgent filling of critical vacancies with a specific emphasis on Pharmacist positions
Plan, co-ordinate stock take
Assume licensing for regulatory requirements compliance with all appropriate standards
Co-ordinate staff activities to ensure smooth running of the pharmacy and achieve company goals
Liaise with relevant management re-stock purchases
Participate in call-out roaster and respond to call-out requests as per company procedures
Ensure stock management are appropriately captured on the relevant software
Facilitate quick receipt of consignment invoices
Dispensing of all prescriptions for in and outpatients
Supply and control of ward stocks
Education
B Pharm. Degree or Dip Pharm or relevant Pharmaceutical qualification
Registered with the South African Pharmacy Council
Work Experience
Customer-oriented with exceptional interpersonal skills and high working standards
Minimum of 3 to 4 years’ experience in a similar position
Knowledge of Medical Aids
Experience in a Private Hospital would be advantageous
Knowledge
Intermediate computer skill - must be accurate and pay attention to details
