The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's Degree or Advanced Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, along with 5 years of relevant setting experience. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, a strong understanding of technical drawings, and experience in the installation of parts and related equipment are essential. The successful candidate will also demonstrate a high level of emotional intelligence and strong interpersonal skills. If you're looking for a rewarding opportunity in a dynamic environment, we'd love to hear from you.EMPLOYMENT TYPE: PermanentSECTOR: ManufacturingBASIC SALARY: R41 666.00 + BenefitsSTART DATE: A.S.A.P / ImmediateREQUIREMENTS:MatricBachelor's Degree / Advanced Diploma in Mechanical Engineering5 years' relevant setting experienceProficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)Sound understanding of drawingsInstallation of parts & related equipmentHigh level of emotional intelligence and interpersonal skillsPassionate to progress a career into Packaging and PET Processing for the future with an appreciation of the environmental concerns and impactsAble to make good business-aligned judgment decisions at an operational level whilst maintaining maintenance standards, practices & procedures in line with defined and communicated authority and as per instructionsResponsible for all activities linked to the position as definedEnsure escalation to the appropriate level of authorityEnsure transparent, responsive and open communication between colleaguesDUTIES:Technical:Identify, report and rectify all technical areas of concern on assigned production equipment (machines, moulds, etc.)Have an in-depth understanding of:Product and its quality criteriaProcess (material feeding and drying, injection moulding, reheat stretch blow moulding and injection blow moulding)In-depth knowledge of all equipment, detailed for assigned equipmentMould installationTechnical principles and drawings (e.g. assemblies and spare part finding, pneumatic, hydraulic, electric)Fault analysis and problem solving:Independently do fault analysis and problem solving in case of (teamwork as needed)Product quality, processing issuesMould issuesMachine malfunction (mechanic / hydraulic / pneumatic / electric)Recognize and report problems to Maintenance Manager & Production Manager on other than the assigned equipmentMaintenance:Independently develop maintenance plans and checklists (teamwork as needed)Ensure maintenance is done at required intervals according to the plansSpares:Identify spares needed for assigned equipmentMachine Setting:Independently develop machine settings (teamwork as needed)Set and check that machines are correctly set for each run document settings and setting adjustments centrallyIf needed (for fault finding, etc.) the technician is allowed to temporarily run the machine with bridged safety switch, while present at the machine. He must be aware of the risk that comes with such action and it is his responsibility to ensure he does not get himself or others into dangerous situations. He must ensure he takes the right precautions (e.g. know the movements of the machine; special PPE like face shield, etc.) for such actions. He is also responsible for ensuring that nobody else (e.g. packer) gets close to or into the "unsafe" area of such machine.Management:Liaise with Maintenance Manager & Production Manager (in charge) to ensure machine availability vs. major maintenance intervalsHave an overview of what needs to be done and report to Maintenance Manager & Production ManagerGive completion dates and fulfill tasks required by Maintenance Manager & Production ManagerEnsure sound relationships and communication with internal work-related staff (Production, etc.) and external (Tool room, Technical department, suppliers, etc.)Strive for improvement, research and make suggestionsAdministration (job):Log jobs performedAnalyze Defect Register together with Maintenance Manager & Production Manager to improve production resultsContact external suppliers as agreed with Maintenance Manager & Production Manager to assist in solving problems (quotes on service, spare parts, etc.)Spares:Have an overview of existing stock for equipmentSpare part analysis (= keep stock vs. source at breakdown)Report parts needed to Maintenance Manager & Production Manager and assist in decision to have on stock or source at breakdownAssist Maintenance Manager & Production Manager in ordering process (e.g. Prepare documents, follow up on orders)Health & Safety:Ensure and enforce that aspects in area of responsibility conform to Health and safety requirementsMaintain housekeeping standards in area of responsibility (e.g. ensure cleanliness assigned machines and areas)Work safely and report on safety hazards or issuesReport any accidents, incidents and near missesQuality:Apply the company's quality principles and standardsMaintain Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)Food Safety System Certification (FSSC):Food safety standards are site-specific and at these sites employees should:Apply the site's food safety principles and standardsReport any food safety hazards or issues to your Supervisor / ManagerComply to and maintain all GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices) in relation to the Company's FSMS (Food Safety Management System)Self-Development, Growth and Training:Realistic assessment of own strengths and development areas and undertake actions to address weaknesses, if any that hinders the fulfilment of your objectivesKeep abreast of innovation and technical improvements for further self-development and the development of the company:Keep contact with your key suppliers and discuss with themRead operator manuals of machinesRead literature that has to do with your position (e.g. on the internet, Google, etc.)General:Perform additional tasks as required from time to timeEnsure team knows what to do and where to find information if you are not availableInform yourself about and apply the company's principles and standardsSet an example, be a role model for your team and others in the way you work and behaveHOURS:Monday to Thursday: 08:00 – 17:00Friday: 08:00 – 15:45Should you meet all the requirements, apply on our website at www.statusstaffing.com today.Should you not hear back from us within 10 working days, please consider your application as unsuccessful.
