Thungela focuses on exporting its thermal coal portfolio mainly to the Indian, Asian, Southeast Asian, Middle East and North African markets.Job DescriptionAs the People Services Officer you will coordinate and execute the maintenance of people (employees and contractors) and organisational data on our people systems i.e., SAP, SF. You will also need to coordinate and execute transactional activity at the operation as per calendars and standards i.e., payroll data, benefit administration.More of your responsibilities will include:Delivering correct payroll calculations including allowances, production bonuses, overtime, awards etcCoordinating the consistent, error free payroll runs and payment of employees and authorising the process for all payroll inputs and manage any issues that have been escalatedCoordinating the payroll checking process in line with the payroll calendar and the required standardsEnsuring that all employee data is securely stored in the correct format and in the right placeCoordinating the end-to-end service delivery process, ensuring timely and accurate resolution of employee queries, requests, and concernsCoordinating the resolution of all employee queries and monitor compliance of query resolution to the required standardSupporting process and data governance, change management, root cause analysis and process improvement opportunitiesIdentifying and escalating any data governance gaps i.e., data privacy, data quality issues, process deviations and opportunities for process improvementsSupporting the implementation and embedment of new processes, policies, and proceduresDelivering effective and timeous operational management reporting making use of standardized reporting frameworksDelivering the required statistical and governance reporting aligned to the reporting calendarSupporting the analysis and interpretation of people data to assist in the identification of issues, trends, and emerging risksAssisting with the communication of all people services activities and changes to all on-mine stakeholdersContributing to process, system, and data design reviews, share operational practices and learningsCollaboratively work with the People Systems Support team to manage new operational systems demands, in progress projects, and engagements for BAU support functionalitySupporting the proactive identification of potential / emerging risks related to the delivery of operational people servicesQualificationsHigher Certificate / National Diploma in Human Resources, Administration, or related discipline (NQF Level 5/6)ExperienceMinimum of 3 years' experience in human resources, specifically in a people services environment i.e. employee and payroll dataAdditional InformationEmerging knowledge of mining and other relevant legislation applicable to Thungela incl.:Mineral and Petroleum Resources Development Act, No 28 of 2002Mine Health and Safety Act, No 29 of 1996 and RegulationsBasic Conditions of Employment Act, No 75 of 1997 and codesLabour Relations Act, No 66 of 1995Employment Equity Act, No 55 of 1998Protection of Personal Information Act, No 4 of 2013Emerging knowledge of applicable information technology, i.e. SAP, SuccessFactorsBasic knowledge of data privacy principles and practicesEmerging knowledge of stakeholder managementWhat we offerWhen you join Thungela, you can expect to enjoy a competitive salary and benefits package.
