About the CompanyWe're in process of scaling up our People function within our Durban operation in SA.About the RolePeople Partner (Employee Relations)To sustainably enhance the employee relations capability of the organisation.To function across the employee relations value chain in accordance with the daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly objectives.To establish lean, agile and cost-effective mechanisms to mitigate dispute resolution.ResponsibilitiesPerform all industrial/employee relations activities:Provide advisory in relation to misconduct, operational requirements, incapacities, grievances, and dispute resolution.Facilitate all matters relating to misconduct, incapacity, operational requirements, grievances, and disputes.Mitigate and defend Industrial relations risk at the CCMA.Identify gaps, propose, and implement changes within contractual frameworks and organisational policies.Drive Employment Equity and ensure adherence to policies.Ensure compliance with legal, business, and client requirements.Implementation of industrial/employee relations learning & development initiativesWork closely with both support and operational business units to implement employee relations learnings in the form of workshops, tutorials, training, and other learning experiences to equip managers and employees.Design and implement learning material such as handbooks, disciplinary codes, policies, information sheets, and templates to drive organisational efficiencies.Engage with internal and external stakeholders to find new and innovative ways to enable all line managers with the most recent industrial/employment relations trends.Create and implement an online employee relations library/portal for both managers and employees.Management of poor timekeeping, absence, and attritionEquip and enable support and operational managers with the requisite knowledge around absence, timekeeping, and attrition trends.Review exit information and implement positive retention initiatives.Identify proactive measures to reduce and mitigate poor timekeeping, absence, and attrition.Facilitate employee ambassador sessions and collaborate with respective departments to yield positive change.Compiling of impactful reportsWork closely with all stakeholders to understand reporting requirements and compile necessary reports to impact positive change.This will include (but not limited to): reporting on misconduct, incapacity, operational requirements, warnings, and learning initiatives.Participating in the design and delivery of people and business projectsLiaise with the People Projects Partner and other stakeholders to timeously contribute to the successful delivery and completion of people and business-related projects.Building strong business relationships with internal and external clientsProactively support the delivery of People Processes.Schedule frequent meetings with stakeholders to conduct a needs analysis and provide feedback on industrial/employee relations initiatives.Analyse client feedback and processes and use the feedback to onboard and implement enhanced industrial/employee relations initiatives.Engage with the management team and proactively respond to queries promptly, ensuring that opportunities for improvements are actioned and measured.Perform a support role for the business by ensuring collaboration and proactive communication between departments.Present MBR and suggestions about change management.Provide meaningful reporting to facilitate business decisions.QualificationsMatric (Essential)Tertiary qualification in Human Resources/Industrial & Employee Relations or Labour Law is preferred.Postgraduate Qualification Advantageous.Master of Commerce Industrial/Employee Relations is highly advantageous.Bachelor of Law LLB is highly advantageous.Masters of Labour Law LLM is highly advantageous.3-5 years' experience in a Labour/Industrial/Employee Relations or Management role Equivalent.Knowledge and understanding of all South African labour legislation is essential.Experience in Employment Equity is advantageous.CCMA proficiency at arbitration level is non-negotiable.Strong MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint skills.Required SkillsKnowledge of South African Labour Legislation legislative requirements.Resilient approach and the ability to manage under pressure.Problem-solving skills and adept at troubleshooting.Strong and adaptable communication skills with the ability to influence and motivate.Strong analytical abilities: ability to collate, manage, and analyse data.
