This is a unique opportunity to join a high-growth investment business in a pivotal role at the intersection of technology, operations, and compliance.Key Responsibilities:As the Operations Manager, you will report to the Financial Director and be based full-time at the Sandton office.
Your responsibilities will span across three core areas:IT Special ProjectsLead and support strategic technology initiatives, including the design and implementation of a new SQL database and configuration of BlackRock's eFront for private markets.Drive the development of a new Investor Portal for client access and portfolio visibility.Collaborate across departments (Distribution, Investment, and Central Operations) to improve process efficiency and digital transformation.IT Operations OversightManage the performance of an outsourced IT service provider, ensuring high-quality delivery of infrastructure, desktop support, and network services.Oversee IT architecture, license management, spend monitoring, and procurement.Identify, assess, and mitigate IT risks, including cybersecurity threats and operational vulnerabilities.Maintain governance frameworks and implement disaster recovery and business continuity plans.Compliance ManagementEnsure adherence to regulatory frameworks such as POPIA, GDPR, FICA, and FATCA.Develop, review, and update IT and compliance policies.Conduct internal audits and assessments, address compliance gaps, and stay ahead of regulatory changes.Manage internal compliance submissions and maintain a structured compliance calendar.Experience and Educational Requirements:Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or Law, with strong academic results.A background in financial services, ideally within an asset management or investment firm.5+ years of experience in IT operations, compliance, or a similar role within the financial sector.Strong project management capabilities with a track record of successfully delivering complex initiatives.Deep understanding of IT risk management, governance, and compliance.Exposure to international regulatory environments and experience managing external vendors or service providers.High levels of ownership, independence, and initiative—someone who thrives in a fast-paced, non-micromanaged environment.Strong analytical, problem-solving, and interpersonal communication skills.Commercially minded with the ability to understand and support business needs through technology.Must be open to obtaining the relevant Regulatory Examination (RE) qualifications if required.If you're a proactive and driven individual looking to take the next step in your operations and IT leadership career, this is an excellent opportunity to join a fast-moving, high-growth investment business at the forefront of alternative asset management.Please note that only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
