We are looking to recruit a permanent Operations Manager to work for United Pharmaceutical Distributors (UPD). The role will be based at our Durban branch and will report to the General Manager (Coastal).
Purpose and Objectives
Purpose:

To manage all inbound and outbound operational activities of the wholesale and distribution departments within required SLA’s, including receipt, storage and control of stock; assembly of orders; dispatch of orders to fleet and couriers; and compliance with legal requirements relating to the acquisition, storage and distribution of medicines.

Objectives:

To ensure compliance to the directives of the Managing Pharmacist, legal requirements and company SOPs relating to quarantining of stock, handling of thermo labile (cold chain) products, storing and distributing HFD products, special storage, handling and packaging requirements to ensure stock efficiency; destruction of expired, damaged or unsaleable stock, housekeeping and temperature requirements.
To manage risks as per GRC guidelines. This will include risks of theft and pilferage, damages, costs associated with expiry and cold chain breach, losses arising out of inaccurate supply against an invoice and compliance with all health and safety standards and requirements.
To ensure the efficient management of stock, the stock count process and implementation of on-going special and cycle counts of stock.
To ensure the daily management and supervision of operational staff in order to comply with and meet operational cost containment targets and stipulated times and deadlines.
To implement and ensure adherence to audit findings, including rectifying and reporting on any discrepancies, procedure breach or non-compliance issues.
To manage all operational processes in wholesale and distribution. This will include receiving, assembling stock (ensuring compliance with the service standards relating to time, accuracy, quality and stock efficacy and saleability of orders), the dispatching of stock, customer returns, POD management and vehicle inspection.
To manage and oversee all housekeeping and maintenance requirements within the branch.

Requirements
Education:

Relevant degree or diploma in Supply Chain / Logistics or related (Essential)

Experience:

Essential 5 years experience in a warehouse environment within the pharmaceutical/FMCG industry
Essential 5 years operational managerial experience
