Mineral Separation Plant seeks a Mineral Process Engineer to be involved in all stages of raw materials processing. Plan and oversee the extraction of valuable minerals while ensuring compliance of product to set quality specifications. Study and apply chemical and process metallurgy techniques; implement and coordinate work systems to ensure that the circumstances under which the products of the company are manufactured are of the highest standard. Responsible for onsite testing and research. Lead continuous improvements efforts within the company. Process design and development. Ensure that the company Quality policies are implemented and updated as required. Manage all aspects of technical metallurgical support to the organisation by leasing with management in terms of process requirements. Duties and Responsibilities: Evaluating and recommending process enhancements; Development and implementation of initiatives to achieve optimum metallurgical performance in all production circuits; Conducting routine metallurgical balances for effective plant monitoring and process performance reviews Managing projects to enhance the processing plants' performance; Conduct on-site testing and research to identify ways to improve systems Oversee all metallurgy and outputs from the laboratory department; Oversee functions of sampling and analysis of product; Provide troubleshooting support to improve operational efficiencies; Monitoring quality standards relating to processing and finished goods; Overseeing the operational quality control processes; Improve plant processing performance; Reduce waste and delays and make recommendations to achieve a high level of operating efficiency; Monitor daily production process deviations and investigate non-conformances; Initiate, propose and test improvement projects and compile comprehensive reports; Research into and implementation of optimization initiatives to development interventions for the improvement of the plant; Ensure compliance to quality management systems and procedures; Raw material receipt and sampling; Write reports, attend meetings, record and store information in compliance with legislation, regulations and company policies; Quality Management: Maintain the existing quality management system; Assist with implementation of control measures; Ensure compliance with legislation; Understand best practice in maintenance and improvement in quality; Ensure relevant teams have training and manage quality management system; Ensure that relevant processes are in place to support the quality and quantity of product as per customer specification; Ensure that systems and procedures are implemented to identify and respond to quality failures or reports; and Support in rapid resolution of customer complaints that includes conducting effective root cause analyses and implementing corrective actions Staff Management: Positively practice and communicate values and ensure that Laboratory employees understand what these are; Manage people within the Laboratory through creating a culture of performance excellence; Ensure that accurate job descriptions are communicated, detailing company expectations; Select, train, motivate and evaluate staff and provide or co-ordinate staff training in conjunction with Human Resources; Address poor performance constructively and timeously. Have a detailed discussion with the staff member to communicate the areas of poor performance and put measures in place to improve this; Address misconduct and deviation from the values and Code of Conduct consistently through advice from HR; Recruit in line with organisational needs as per the prescribed process; Develop and manage succession plans for the Laboratory; Ensure compliance with the Disciplinary Code; and Address misconduct and deviation from the values consistently. Housekeeping and safety Ensure work stations and responsible areas are clean and tidy at all times; and Follow safe working practice as set out as per the Occupational Health and Safety Act (Hard Copy available on Site) in all tasks performed on site. Qualifications and Experience: B Tech / Degree in Material Science or Engineering Metallurgy; 5-10 years operations experience in materials (post qualification). General / Production Management qualification; and Excellent communication skills, particularly English and Afrikaans. Skills and Competence Required: Self-starter and able to work with minimum supervision. Excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to lead a team and work effectively with other departments. Solid technical and analytical skills combined with sound practical judgement. Understanding and experience in process and continuous improvement would be an asset. Basic financial skills. Knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO14001, ISO45001 and ISO 17025 (Exposure to international accreditations). Strong MS Office skills. Email your CV to anthonyjobswcp.co.za
