Our client, a leader in the steel fabrication industry is seeking a highly Mechanical Engineer to join their team.MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Grade 12 Minimum 10 years experience Degree or higher Qualification in Mechanical Engineering ECSAHeavy Engineering industryMAIN JOB FUNCTIONSSafety and HousekeepingEnsure compliance with the requirements of Safety, Health and Environment Standards and Procedures.Conduct regular risk assessments and audits and identify high risk areas and initiate appropriate corrective actions.Arrange and facilitate safety meetings.Implement safety related corrective actions and strategies.Equipment operation and maintenanceEnsure safe, efficient and accurate maintenance of equipment according to maintenance procedures, instructions and schedules.Build, assemble, test and evaluate machine assembliesParticipate in design improvements and projects to improve the manufacturing process and ensure continuous improvement.Follow all maintenance related processes and procedures as required by the maintenance management system, and ensure that all subordinates follow the same processesReport on maintenance activities as requiredSolid knowledge of Mechanical Engineering principles, processes, systems, procedures and practicesSolid knowledge of general maintenance administrative processes and systemsSolid understanding of organisational business processes and proceduresSupervision of Subordinate EmployeesConduct required performance reviewsIdentify people related problems areas and hold corrective action meetingsManage conflicts within the team membersEnsure team compliance with company Environmental, Health, Safety, statutory and maintenance procedures and processes.Training and upliftment of the team in all Mechanical functionsOversee, sign off, and ensure timeous submission of compensation related documentation to HR for processing i.e.
approved overtime and leave forms.Control and ensure that overtime hours are kept at minimum.Ensure that discipline is kept amongst subordinatesProvide Technical SupportContinuous ImprovementInitiate, participate and implement improvement programs and initiatives.
This includes developing methods to improve the Mechanical section performance and reduce costsBudgetary responsibility:Assist the company in achieving its budgetary requirements through the selection of the best value for money solution for the organisation and minimising the wastage of resourcesProcurement responsibilityFollow company Stores and Procurement procedures and ensure that all requirements are accurately specified to ensure the efficient procurement.Manage spares stock to ensure minimum risk to the organisation whilst optimising stock levels.
