Job Description: Ensure all joinery and assembly designs meet structural, functional, and certification requirements while staying within cost parameters and collaborating with other design teams Create 2D and 3D CAD models and perform necessary calculations for the design and specification of joinery and assemblies in new product development Define the build sequence and establish the design intent for respective assemblies to ensure efficient manufacturing and assembly processes Work closely with Chief Designers to ensure all design requirements are met and that specifications issued to production are complete and accurate Investigate and implement new products or technologies to improve quality, enhance processes, and reduce manufacturing costs while ensuring critical quality checks during prototyping and Engineering Change Request (ECR) implementation Manage project deadlines, maintain milestone trackers, balance team workloads, and provide coaching and development for team members Oversee the Engineering Change Request (ECR) system, assign project leads, monitor progress, approve project completion, and provide technical support to stakeholders Skills & Experience: 3-5 years experience managing a team in a manufacturing environment.
Strong understanding of design for manufacturing and production sequences Proficiency in SolidWorks (2013 and later) Strong analytical, numerical, and creative skills Proactive, self-motivated, and effective decision-maker Skilled in troubleshooting and working under pressure Basic knowledge of AutoCAD/DraftSight (2010 and later) Competency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel Qualification: BTech/B-Degree (NQF Level 7) in Engineering or a related field Only South African Residents or individuals with a relevant South African work permit will be considered.
