Mcnair Scholars Graduate Assistant

Details of the offer

The term Graduate Assistant is the umbrella term that encompasses all types of GA appointments. Graduate Assistants are employed by the University to teach, conduct research, or assist with administrative duties in departments and non-academic units. Every attempt is made to assign Graduate Assistants to positions that are directly related to the student’s field of study or that provide the opportunity to develop transferable, professional skills. Graduate Assistantships are assigned in the department or unit and confirmed by the Graduate School.
Additional DetailsAbout the McNair Scholars Program:
In 2017, The University of North Carolina at Greensboro was awarded funding to implement the Ronald E. McNair Postbaccalaurate Achievement Program on our campus. This is a renewable, multi-year TRIO grant that helps 25 first-generation, low-income and/or underrepresented undergraduates prepare for and succeed in doctoral programs.
UNCG-McNair Scholars Program’s objective is to prepare students for admissions and success in doctoral programs by providing intensive research experiences, one-on-one mentoring relationships with faculty, graduate school application guidance, and assistance in interpreting the professional graduate education culture. UNCG-McNair Scholars participate in workshops and seminars throughout the year to prepare and learn about research and graduate school. During the summer before their senior year, scholars participate in an intensive eight-week research internship. Scholars present their research locally and nationally at McNair Scholar Conferences.
The Graduate Assistant position for the McNair Scholars Program is an essential support role to the Assistant Director and Director of TRIO programs.
