PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Logistics Manager to oversee warehouse, distribution, and fish processing operations for our chilled, frozen, and ambient products at the Econofoods Distribution Centre in Cape Town.
The successful candidate will ensure the smooth flow of goods from our distribution centres to retail stores and foodservice/wholesale customers, optimize processes for efficiency, manage the team for optimal performance, and maintain the integrity of temperature-sensitive products.
Experience in lean logistics, inventory management, and strong leadership skills are essential, along with a customer-centric approach and commitment to excellent service delivery.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic Planning: Develop and implement regional logistics strategies aligned with overall business objectives to optimize the supply chain for all product types.
Warehouse Management: Oversee daily warehouse operations, ensuring efficient storage, picking, packing, and dispatch.
Implement inventory control best practices to minimize losses.
Distribution: Coordinate transportation and distribution, optimize routes and schedules, manage fleet maintenance, and ensure excellent customer experiences.
Quality Assurance and Safety: Enforce quality control and food safety measures, address quality issues promptly, and maintain a safe work environment.
Compliance: Ensure adherence to local and regional regulations related to temperature-sensitive goods, stay updated on industry standards, and monitor compliance across departments.
Cost Management: Identify cost-saving opportunities, manage regional logistics budgets, and improve operational efficiency.
Team Leadership: Lead, motivate, and develop the logistics team, fostering continuous improvement and accountability.
Collaboration: Work effectively with stock planning, sales, retail, and supply partners.
Change Management: Implement logistics innovations swiftly, ensuring stakeholder alignment and accountability in a fast-paced environment.
