CORE PURPOSE OF JOBEmpowering and enabling increased agency in Support Services'' employees through provision of strategic leadership and support to management in building team cohesion, and an impowering and inspiring organisational culture, that facilitates team and individual development and growth, and enables increased performance and productivity.KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS AND MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES· Provision of strategic leadership and support to senior management in building cohesion and a constructive culture· Development and implementation of learning and development and other people management programmes necessary to realise the objectives of a progressive and empowering people management philosophy· Management of skills assessment and development of individual development plans programme for Support Services employees· Management and iterative improvement of Graduate in Training (GIT) programme· Measurement of return on investment in people management programmes (including GIT)· Provision of support to incidental training and development· Budget managementCORE COMPETENCIES AND REQUIREMENTS· Design thinking to create innovative solutions to meet learning and development challenges, specifically within a support services / ''blue collar'' worker context· People-centric, customer-centric and strong interpersonal skills· Coaching and mentoring· Education, training and development facilitation and assessment skills· Good leadership, management and motivational skills· Good report writing and presentation skills· Project management· Agile and ability to adapt to changing contexts· Good communication skills (verbal and written) and specifically in at least two official languages where proficiency and isiXhosa and English are preferable· Negotiation and conflict resolution skills and specifically negotiation with managers, employees, unions and suppliers· Sound knowledge of employment legislation, skills development legislation and other related regulations in South Africa· Sound financial acumen (to develop and manage budgets and source financial resources when required)· Knowledge of supply chain management for the purpose of following procurement procedures and policies, in obtaining the services of external service providers, where required· Engagement and management of service providers to ensure required level of services are provided in line with University values and standards· Sound knowledge of policy environment in higher education is advantageous for the purpose of providing input and recommendations to current policies, where it is found that it does not cater for operational requirements of support service employeesIn order to be considered for appointment to this post, the candidate must have the following:Degree in Human Resources Management or Industrial Psychology or related fieldMembership of SA Board for People Practices (SABPP) is a requirementQualification in education, training and development / similar accredited training in skills development facilitation and assessment is advantageousEducation / training in Project Management is advantageous5 years&
