Scope of Position
We are seeking a Lead HR Advisor to join our HR Team located at our Johannesburg office. Reporting to the Director Human Resources, Africa, Europe and Middle East, the Lead HR Advisor is responsible for a range of duties supporting managers and employees in collaboration with the HR team. The ideal candidate will be a generalist will have strong business acumen which allows them to anticipate, understand and provide business solutions in areas such as: employee relations, IR, employee well being, performance management, reward and recognition, recruitment, employee surveys, succession management and career development, remuneration and benefits and international assignments.
The Lead HR Advisor will accomplish these goals by undertaking the following responsibilities:
Keeping the organisation’s vision and values at the forefront of decision-making and action
Leading and developing the HR Advisory team across the region
Partner with assigned internal client groups to provide HR coaching and guidance to business and technical managers and supervisors
Ensure that HR policies and processes are implemented in line with global standards and best practice
Constantly evaluate HR solutions and devise and deliver new and improved ways of meeting the people objectives of the business
Work closely with management team to report on key HR performance indicators such as career development, leave and time management, etc.
Be primary point of contact between employees and their business unit managers on HR-related issues
Employee onboarding, orientation and development
Work closely with the Talent Acquisition team on recruitment of staff for different levels
Work closely with the Mobility team, on domestic and international assignment, transfers and relocations
As a Lead HR Advisor your duties and responsibilities will include:
Diversity and Inclusion
Advocates the value of diversity to others
Responsible for supporting BBBEE Transformation team with the execution of all BBBEE transformation interventions across the Company
Ensuring that Company complies with legislative requirements and aligns to the business strategy
Responsible for supporting development and implementation of the EE plan
Ensuring Legislative compliance
Monitor transformation and BBBEE legislative changes and updates
Build strategic relationships with relevant stakeholders
Monitor recruitment, retention and skills development of designated groups
HR Advisory
Coach project management to implement effective performance management systems and process
Provide HR leadership and give appropriate advice to maintain service delivery
Conduct needs/skills analysis to identify development needs
Recommend HR interventions and facilitate implementation
Communicate required motivation for people related changes in the business
Align HR strategies to HR processes and legislation
Conduct feedback sessions to management
Coordination of general employee activities, including but not limited to: Employment Contracts, Probation, Employment Lifecycle changes, Remuneration and Benefits, Excessive Leave and Terminations
Project mobilisation, demobilisation and ongoing maintenance
Oversee SAP database processing and Personnel file management ensuring complete and accurate records are maintained on all personnel
Coordination of New Starter Onboarding Program (corporate and project hires)
Provide HR input into proposals and/or tenders.
When required, coordinate and deliver HR specific presentations, inductions lunch and learns, etc.
Proactive HR support, providing day-to-day advice and guidance to managers and employees.
Develop and promote feedback mechanisms for employees to influence the continuous improvement of HR services and processes, and levels of organisational engagement and productivity
Provide feedback to the business in relation to employee opinions and expectations impacting Hatch’s Employee Value Proposition. Maintain close contact and provide customer feedback to the HR specialist teams to ensure a seamless HR service to the business and Hatch clients.
Work and communicate closely with the AEM HR Team to ensure consistent, quality outcomes are achieved in line with company policies and practices.
Industrial Relations
Manage the implementation of the industrial relations policy and procedure
Track and monitor industrial relations trends within the organisation
Report and give feedback on industrial relations trends
Proactively manage the risks relating to disciplinary and grievance cases
Coach and guide Leadership on disciplinary and grievance issues
Management of staff grievances and investigations
Support all employee relations activities in line with local legislative frameworks and agreed HR practices
Contribute to the development, implementation and monitoring of policies and procedures based on relevant legislation and contemporary HR management practices which provide an effective, consistent and timely delivery of HR services to support organisational needs
Employee Wellness
Manage the implementation of employee wellness initiatives
Research and recommend employee wellness initiatives for retention purposes
Liaise with service providers
Track, monitor and report on employee wellness initiatives within the organisation
Recruitment
Provide advice and guidance as required to enable Managers to complete detailed position descriptions
Co-ordinate and execute the recruitment, selection and appointment process for assigned roles
Ensure that all necessary data is captured within the applicant tracking system
Prepare and execute internal and external job advertisements, web postings and specifications for external recruitment agencies so that potential applicants have the necessary information to decide whether, and how, to apply for a current vacancy.
Undertake initial assessment / screening of candidate applications and ensure the necessary communication so that candidates are aware as to the status of their application
Provide the necessary assistance to Managers to determine candidates suitable for interview and arrange interview panels including venues, times
International Mobility
Advise and oversee the co-ordination of all local secondments including but not limited to: Pre-departure/arrival planning and assignment support Ensure communication is maintained with assignees and relevant stakeholders throughout the assignment life cycle Ensure two way communication with relevant Business Unit or Project Manager about all assignee matters affecting mobility Ensure that policies are fairly applied to ensure transparency and equitable treatment for all staff Co-ordination of third party service providers i.e. tax, immigration, destination services, relocation, insurance, etc. Ensure leave reconciliations and any relevant SAP updates are completed upon completion of an international assignment
Team Leadership
Providing timely guidance and feedback to help others strengthen specific knowledge/skill areas needed to accomplish a task or solve a problem
Planning and supporting the development of individuals’ skills and abilities so that they can fulfill current or future job/role responsibilities more effectively
Successful Candidate
A relevant University Degree is required
15 + years HR experience preferably in the engineering or consulting industry
High level of computer proficiency in MS Office suite and HR Information systems
Strong working knowledge of SuccessFactors and SAP is required
Ability to work effectively in a heavily matrixed organization
Strong knowledge of HR regulations, practices and labour market in South Africa
Strong knowledge of HR regulations practices and labour market in Africa is preferred
Demonstrated ability to provide practical recommendations to solve issues related to HR regulations, laws and policies
Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in change management
Ability to develop and implement HR initiatives
Degree of emotional maturity (aware of own limitations/self awareness)
Sound influencing, leadership, delegation and interpersonal skills
Strong Consulting and advisory skills
Effective oral, written and listening communication skills with individuals at all levels of the organization
Able to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times
Able to build and maintain lasting relationships with internal and external stakeholders
Excellent time and project management skills
High attention to detail and accuracy in all areas of work
