Job Description SummaryOur team of Engineers supports the current operation and maintenance of Steam Turbines as well as their Controls, and Accessory systems. As a ITR Service engineer, you will be responsible for providing timely technical solution to the fleet of turbines Fossil fuel Steam Turbines in SSA. You will be accountable for resolving customer technical challenges and improving fleet reliability and availability. Respond to internal and external customer requests for technical issue resolution relating to steam turbines using technical product knowledge and analytical skills while adhering to sound engineering principles, standards, practices, procedures.Job DescriptionRoles and ResponsibilitiesEstablish and maintain relationships with customers to make customer technical issues/requirements understood and addressed in a timely manner.Lead and program manage root cause analysis/investigation activities for product technical issues.Drive and lead Engineering request issue resolution with Quality and integrity.Focus on eliminating reparative products issues.Identify business priorities & synergy initiative.Escalate issues as required acting as the liaison between the field and design engineering to drive specific technical resolution and to help engineering identify, drive corrective actions.Plan and provide engineering technical oversight to the Execution Services and Field Services teams during planned outages to meet availability goals.Travel to customer locations to: 1) Support customer technical review meetings and present recommendations to champion GEV's committed technical solution. 2) Support unplanned/forced outages to meet availability and reliability goals.Partner with the Global Services and Design Engineering teams and interface with external and internal suppliers to facilitate the logistical implementation of Fleet Program technical solutions.Support identification/engineering of parts for manufacture.Support SQA function in components being manufactured locallyProvide support for turbine component and turbine rotor repairs at customer workshop.Follow engineering projects from the tendering phase through to final completion ofexecution (ITR).Provide support to the Resident engineersfor operational and fleet management issues that arise.Overall technical responsibility to support the regional organization during tendering and project management, field service, and workshop activities during project execution.Required QualificationsB Tech. or B Eng. degree in Mechanical EngineeringMinimum 5 years experience in similar role.Desired CharacteristicsGood team player, research and organizational skills, keen to learn, proactive attitude.Excellent communication skills, enthusiasm and commitment.Must be willing to work off hours and weekends to support emergency issue resolution.Good report writing skills.Fluent in English (speak, read, write)About Steam Power:At GE Steam Power, our systems help electrify the world and we are committed to building a more sustainable world for everyone.
