DescriptionWe're hiring a Land Rights Manager to join a growing project development company with an impressive pipeline of approximately 4 GW.
In this role, you'll oversee the acquisition and management of Greenfield Projects across South Africa.You'll be responsible for managing site identification, engaging with landowners, and negotiating leases to ensure projects are secured, risks are assessed, and sites are ready for development.
This role offers you the opportunity to build positive relationships with landowners while collaborating closely with internal teams to evaluate land feasibility and provide strategic insights.
A strong understanding of land rights in South Africa is essential, and prior experience in renewable energy development is highly advantageous.This role suits someone who's proactive, organised, and can confidently negotiate agreements that unlock long-term project value.Education RequirementsBachelor's Degree in Town Planning, Environmental Science, Commerce or equivalentExperience Requirements3+ years of experience in land acquisition, lease negotiations, or property managementExperience within Renewable Energy Development is preferredStrong knowledge of land rights laws and regulations in South AfricaExperience with GIS mapping software, CRM software and other land management tools is beneficialResponsibilitiesProject Acquisition & Management: Manage the project acquisition process for Greenfield Renewable Energy ProjectsGreenfields Project Support: Collaborate with internal teams to assist with the identification and onboarding of new projects.
Provide land-related risk assessments, stakeholder mapping and strategy inputLandowner Identification: Research and identify the landowners of potential project sites using known databases and general research methodsLandowner Relationship Management: Develop and maintain positive relationships with landowners, ensuring clear communication and collaborationNegotiation of Agreements: Lead negotiations for option-to-lease agreements and lease agreements with landownersGIS Mapping: Utilise Geographic Information System (GIS) tools to map and analyse land parcels for project feasibilityPortfolio Status Reporting: Provide regular updates to management on the status of the Greenfields project portfolio, highlighting challenges and progressProject Development Support: Collaborate with internal teams to support various aspects of project development as neededSkillsFluency in English and Afrikaans is required (proficiency in other South African languages is advantageous)Willingness to travel regularly within South Africa as requiredExcellent written and spoken communication, negotiation, and relationship management skillsCultural sensitivity and awarenessPassion for renewable energy and sustainable development
