Junior Industrial Relations Officer

Purpose Our client, a well-established Workers Association, is seeking a Junior Industrial Relations (IR) Officer to join their team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a dynamic individual with a passion for labour relations and a solid understanding of South African labour laws.
Key Responsibilities :   Assist in managing employee relations by providing advice and guidance on workplace disputes, grievances, and disciplinary matters Understand and ensure compliance with labour legislation, including the Labour Relations Act (LRA), Basic Conditions of Employment Act (BCEA), Employment Equity Act (EEA), and related regulations Represent the association at CCMA hearings and assist in preparing cases for dispute resolution, including gathering evidence and drafting required documentation Conduct workplace investigations on disciplinary and grievance matters and recommend appropriate actions   Possess strong knowledge and understanding of dismissals, including substantive and procedural fairness, as outlined in labour legislation Ensure that dismissals comply with labour laws by advising on proper procedures and assisting in case preparation Assist in handling unfair dismissal claims and representing the organization in dispute resolution processes Assist in the drafting, review, and implementation of workplace policies, employment contracts, and disciplinary procedures in line with labour laws Monitor legislative changes and provide regular updates to management on compliance and labour law amendments Participate in collective bargaining negotiations and provide support in dealing with union representatives and stakeholders Provide training and workshops on IR-related matters, ensuring employees and management are aware of their rights and responsibilities Engage in site visits and meetings with stakeholders, ensuring effective communication between employees, management, and external parties Maintain and update IR case records, ensuring accurate reporting and documentation of all labour-related matters   Requirements :   A Diploma/Degree in Industrial Relations, Human Resources, or Law Strong knowledge of South African labour legislation (LRA, BCEA, EEA, etc.)
Willingness to travel as required for hearings, site visits, and stakeholder engagements Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills Ability to work under pressure and handle sensitive IR matters professionally Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple IR cases simultaneously   If you meet the above requirements and are passionate about labour relations, we'd love to hear from you!
