About the Role: Global Procurement is a team of 75 people located in USA, UK&I, EMEA, Asia Pacific and Latin America that manages in excess of $1bn spend. The EMEA team consists of 5 people based in the UK and South Africa who are the single point of contact for all in-country purchases, covering all categories of spend such as IT, data, professional services, HR and facilities. On regional and global levels, the buyers are supported by a network of Global Category Leaders who are the categories SMEs that provide guidance and set the global procurement category strategies for the organisation. The Junior Buyer will report to the Procurement Manager based in Johannesburg South Africa, the incumbent will be responsible for primarily supporting the Experians Africa region, with visits to suppliers and other company offices as and when required. The Junior Buyer will be responsible for a number of purchases for Experian Africa and occasionally for other countries in the region. Key Responsibilities/Outputs: Negotiate with suppliers and deliver cost savings. Managing RFPs, auctions and contract pipelines utilising Ariba our e-sourcing tool. Ensure all expenditure is covered by appropriate contracts that you will be negotiating directly with the suppliers. Adhere to compliance to global policies ensuring best practice is adopted. Develop relationships and influence behaviours of internal clients and suppliers as required. Support in delivering departmental KPIs as required by the business. Provide analysis and reporting for the countries spend as required and maintain category management documents. Work closely with the finance team to ensure good governance is maintained. Place purchase orders for suppliers in accordance with the terms agreed. Support the South African business to enhance its BBBEE certification through selection of accredited suppliers where relevant. Key Skills (Functional/ Technical) Negotiation skills and business acumen. Ability to analyse numerical and non-numerical data. Ability to manage local projects. Ability to build key relationships, internally and externally, up to senior level, up to regional and global basis, including the reporting and presentation of ideas / concepts. Strong administration skills and commercial awareness. Time management ability to manage own time and priorities. Flexible and able to respond to changing business needs. Commercial law understanding of contractual law, including risks and drafting experience (desirable). Attention to detail. Business acumen. Relationship management. Qualifications and Experience Related formal qualification (desirable). Minimum 2 years related experience in Procurement. Experienced user of Oracle or another ERP system (desirable).
