Coordinate and implement funded collaboration with national and international private crop production sector. Invite and host international researchers for improved student empowerment and throughput. Identify opportunities and apply for substantial grants for new research projects (individual and /or collaborative). Ensure the implementation of quality research activities and publication of results in high impact journals. Facilitate linkages between the Faculty of Natural and Agriculture Sciences with government, science councils, NGOs and NPOs for policy engagement. Contribute proactively to conferences and seminars that enhance research and discipline knowledge. Perform general administrative duties as applicable at the university. Facilitate linkages between the Faculty of Natural and Agriculture Sciences and the private sector to enhance research collaboration. Facilitate linkages between the different departments in Faculty of Natural and Agriculture Sciences. Facilitate linkages between the Faculty of Natural and Agriculture Sciences and other faculties at the University to enhance interdisciplinary research.Inherent requirements: A Master’s degree on NQF level nine (9) in Crop Science or related field. In-depth knowledge and experience on the crop industry, the smallholder farming sector and the government. A minimum of ten (10) years' working experience in a crop science environment. Experience in the management of research projects. A proven ability to attract research funding (provide evidence of sourcing external research funding). Proven national recognition for specialist expertise or research in a specific area of scholarship.Required competencies: Business acumen:o Excellent skilled use of Microsoft Office software (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and related programmes).o The ability to adhere to rules and strictly follow work regulations. Proven knowledge and experience in both qualitative and quantitative research methodologies at postgraduate level. A proven research record of relevant publications in national and international accredited journals. Experience as external examiner for postgraduate (at least MSc or PhD level) students. Editorial board member or guest editor of high-quality national or international scholarly journals.
