Reporting to the Engineering Supervisor (GEF), this position is required to provide effective testing, calibrating, installing, repair, and inspection of monitoring control and instrumentation devices.CRITICAL PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVESCalibrate temperature, pressure, flow, or other characteristics of instruments.Assemble, disassemble, and test parts of instruments; maintain, repair, and troubleshoot instrumentation.Audit and maintain spare parts inventory and manage documentation related to instruments.Provide technical and expert advice on general maintenance of all equipment and machines.Assist in contingency planning and organizing planned outages.Respond promptly to outages and problems; document root causes.Minimize engineering-related breakdowns and call-outs in areas of responsibility.Ensure all tools and equipment are always maintained in good working condition.Ensure safety and housekeeping meet the standards set out in the OHS Act and client requirements.QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCETrade Certificate – controls and instrumentationAt least 5 years of post-trade test related work experience, preferably within water treatment operationsN3 / NCV 4- C&IValid Code 08 driver's licenseKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIESInstrumentation and controls aptitude and awareness, including knowledge of appropriate instrumentation principles and practices.Skills in programmable logic controllers (PLC), Automation, SCADA, Plant Maintenance, and Distributed Control Systems (DCS).Understanding of operating principles of plant equipment.Adequate knowledge of system structures and troubleshooting systems based on system design.Operational and safety procedures related to maintenance activities, including safe use of tools and hand tools.Ability to maintain pertinent records.Ability to read, interpret, and understand data.Effective verbal and written communication skills.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.Basic understanding of the OHS Act and its application.BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIESSolution and improvement-focused attitude (initiative and motivation).Effective time management skills with a sense of urgency.Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team.Ability to multitask and work under pressure.REQUIREMENTSMust be medically fit according to client requirements, considering exposure to noise, vibration, dust, grease, smoke, fumes, gases, solvents, toxic materials, and hazardous chemicals within safety limits.Exposure to various weather and temperature conditions.Ability to work in confined spaces and at heights.Physical ability to perform moderate to heavy lifting, prolonged standing and walking, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, and operating motorized equipment.Good hand-eye coordination.Normal vision and hearing, with or without correction, to operate equipment and read documents.This position is regional; the employee will be seconded to plants within the region and must own a vehicle, be willing to travel, and have accommodation within the region.
Also, standby duties after hours and on weekends are required.
