GENERAL SUMMARY
The Instrumentation Controls and Electrical (IC&E) Technician is responsible for the maintenance and repair of all instruments, control systems and electrical equipment in the power plant and the associated facilities. The IC&E Technician performs work of high skill in the inspection repair, testing, adjustment, installation and removal of all electronic and electrical power plant equipment and systems.
PRIMARY FUNCTIONS
Perform preventive maintenance duties on all major equipment and systems as well as emergency backup systems
Conduct troubleshooting and analysis on DCS, PLC, CEMS and MK V turbine control equipment
Inspect repair, install and remove all types of motors, generators, transformers, switches, control equipment, wiring, electrical signal and communication systems, and storage batteries, and work with electrical systems up to and including 4160 volts
Maintain complete equipment files, logs, and drawings for all designated equipment
Forecast, inventory, and reorder spare parts to maintain plant reliability. Assist in physical inventories.
Participate in the administrative maintenance of the plant operating manuals, technical references, prints and diagrams and preventive/predictive maintenance records
Assist Maintenance Manager and other department managers in outage planning & budgeting
Performs other duties as required by plant conditions and effectively communicates plant status to plant management as required

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS
The IC&E Technician reports to the Maintenance Manager, works in cooperation with the operating utility on matters pertaining to the daily operation of the plant and responds to direction from the Plant Manager in the absence of the Maintenance Manager or his designee.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
Physical requirements include standing on feet for extended periods of time, stair and ladder climbing and routinely lifting up to 50 pounds. Protective equipment must be worn in the performance of some duties (e.g. hard hats, safety glasses, air masks, ear protection, chemical suits, hot gloves, high voltage protective equipment, etc.). Work with hazardous materials may be required.
Position requires extended working hours and varied shifts with the possibility of weekend and holiday work, as required by schedules, work load and plant conditions. "On call" status will periodically be required.
All employees will participate in the Fitness for Duty Program. This program includes a post-offer physical examination and drug screening and post-employment random drug screening. There are extensive smoking restrictions in and around the facility.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Ability to understand procedures and instructions specific to the area of assignment as would be acquired in four years of high school
Graduation from an accredited Instrument Technician Program and two years’ work experience as a technician in a related industry desirable. Four years work experience as a technician with increasing responsibility in a related industry may be substituted for this requirement.
Experience in working with voltages up to 4160 volts highly desirable. The ideal candidate will also have experience with Emerson Ovation DCS, Allen Bradley PLC's and GE Mark V control systems.
Thorough knowledge and understanding of power plant IC&E systems and equipment, electrical principles, electrical safety, electrical test equipment. Ability to understand schematics, electrical drawings, PI&Ds, ladder logic, etc.
Ability to work well with others and be self-directed, as well as apply creative solutions to unique IC&E problems is desirable
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Skilled in the use of hand and power driven tools
Excellent organizational skills
Strong personal computer skills
Valid driver's license required
