For more information on background investigations for Federal jobs please visit OPM Investigations.Conditions Of EmploymentYou must be a U.S. citizen to apply for this position.You must successfully pass a background investigation.Selective Service registration required.You must be able to obtain and maintain a Government credit card.Travel will be required.Please review the Additional Information section for additional key requirements.This position is temporary and intermittent, and you may be deployed to work during disaster declarations.You will be paid only during times of deployment or when attending critical trainings.You will be paid sick leave and earn one hour of sick leave for every 20 hours in a pay status, up to four hours each pay period.You will be eligible to enroll in Federal Employee Health Benefits (FEHB) within 60 days of check-in to support a disaster.
Enrollment in FEHB is terminated after 365 cumulative days in non-pay status.You will be eligible for the Federal Employees Dental and Vision Insurance Program (FEDVIP), when you are deployed to support a disaster and expected to work 130 hours or more per month for at least 90 consecutive days.QualificationsTo qualify for the Information Technology Specialist (CUSTSPT) IT Specialist - Reservist, you must possess experience in each of the following areas:Providing solutions to customer requests for assistance, troubleshooting hardware and/or software problems using assigned Help Desk Tickets;Instructing customers in logging on and accessing network services;Applying network standards, architecture principles, and/or local area network (LAN) principles to perform routine installation configuration and/or troubleshooting.ORA Master's or equivalent graduate degree; or2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree; orL.L.B or J.D if related.ANDIndividual Occupational Requirement: In addition to the minimum qualifications described above you must meet the following basic requirements to be considered qualified for this position:Graduate Education: Degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information system management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications systems or networks.ORExperienceAttention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.Customer Service - Works with clients and customers to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services, is committed to providing quality products and services.Oral Communication - Express information to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information; makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, responds appropriately.Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgement to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.ANDPositions at GS7 (or equivalent) and above require one year of specialized experience at the next lower GS-grade (or equivalent).
Specialized experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular competencies/knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position and is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled.
Such experience is typically gained in the IT field or through the performance of work where the primary concern is IT.
