Location: FranschhoekPosition Summary:This candidate must ensure the effective functioning of the hotel facilities and provide a safe environment for employees and our guests by using best business practice and standard operating procedures to manage resources, services and processes to meet the needs of the company. This person will manage and oversee the daily and preventative maintenance and upkeep of the grounds, facilities, buildings and equipment. Failure to provide adequate services may result in unsafe or poorly maintained facilities and equipment. Keep all equipment in good repair with a minimum of downtime by providing day-to-day maintenance of the hotel and to complete maintenance work orders from all departments on a timely basis by following hotels standard operating procedures. Continually work towards and support the improvement of service and facilities to guests, other departments and fellow employees.Duties and Responsibilities:Inspect hotel regularly to ensure it meets safety standards.Arrange for routine maintenance in hotel rooms, lobbies and facilities (e.g. kitchens, public areas etc.)Organize repair projects in a manner that does not disturb guestsPlan and oversee daily, weekly maintenance duties and renovations.Understand and operate electrical, plumbing, refrigeration and air-conditioning systems.Update the maintenance work order form / Job card and file them.Must have the ability to interpret readings from meters & gauges and other measuring units.Must have the ability to prioritize and organize work assignments.Act fast to resolve emergency issues (e.g. power outages)Must have the ability to focus attention on details, speed and accuracy.Perform maintenance activities in guest rooms and public areas e.g. Plunging toilets, unclogging drains, repairing all types of hardware, electrical equipment including lamps, air conditioners and AC ducts.Test, troubleshoot and perform basic repair on all types of equipment.Maintain maintenance inventory and requisition parts and supplies as needed.Ensure uniform and personal appearance are clean and professional, maintain the confidentiality of proprietary information, and protect company assets.Maintains the hotel facility and related equipment in a safe and efficient manner.Train and instruct other members of the staff through the sharing of knowledge and skills.Supervise, direct and manage the Maintenance team.Management of maintenance employee relationships.Management of the performance of the maintenance team.Manage relationships with contractors and service providersMaintain budgets, expenses and activity logsMaintain all departmental standards, processes and legislative requirements have been adhered to.Requirements:Must have Matric and a Mechanical/Electrical Qualification.Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in hotels or hospitality companies.Must be Fluent in English.Is proficient in the safe handling of all relevant equipment and machinery.Basic knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems and air conditioningMust have the ability to follow instruction.Must be reliable and trustworthyMust have experience in hospitality establishments.Must be able towork when required in emergency situations.
