Job DescriptionThe Head of Department is responsible for the maintenance and improvement of departmental facilities and equipment consistent with general plant objectives.
Develops and implements programs to improve departmental performance in safety, quality, productivity, cost and the work environment.
Must have strong leadership abilities, excellent planning, follow-up skills, financial comprehension of department costs and strong interpersonal & communication abilities.Maintenance Engineering Key ResponsibilitiesStrategy: Develops and implements long- and short-term maintenance strategies, ensuring regulatory compliance, optimizing machinery efficiency, and reducing downtime.Projects: Leads maintenance projects, creates installation and commissioning strategies, and ensures equipment standardization.Cost: Manages budgets and drives cost-saving initiatives.Proposals/Advice: Advises management on equipment improvements, problem resolution, and best practices.Reports: Prepares reports, analyzes data, and tracks maintenance performance and compliance.Maintenance: Oversees staff performance, training, and retention while managing work schedules and feasibility studies.Legal Compliance/Regulations: Ensures compliance with OHS regulations, manages legal registers, and oversees safety maintenance for critical equipment.QualificationsDegree/ Diploma Electrical/Mechanical/ Mechatronics Engineering.5-8 years experience in the tyre and rubber industry.
Proven ability to manage people and other engineering resources as well as analyse, problem solve, and take decisive corrective action Cost management and knowledge of pricing procedures for quoting and tendering Experience in developing and applying pro-active maintenance fundamentals.Additional InformationBenefits in line with the role
