Head of Catering Unit (JB4194)Remote (Suitable for candidates residing in Gauteng)R900 000 to R1 000 000.00 Annually CTCPermanentA Travel Retail Software company is looking for a dedicated Catering Unit Head, this is a standalone division where the full retail service, including final mile delivery, is managed alongside the inflight catering operation. The successful candidate will be responsible for effectively managing the full end to end inflight catering operations meeting all Customer, Company and Government Regulations, Contract Service Level Agreements, Health & Safety, Security, Compliance, Employment, and all other legal statutory obligations. Effectively managing the Retail Operation for Warehousing – Pick & Pack – Final Mile Outbound/Inbound following Customer, Company (Retail) & Government Regulations and Guidelines. You will also be responsible for Profit & Loss management in line with Group Company requirements and finance budget expectations. The company is a key player in the travel retail sector, specializing in retail food & beverage, duty-free products, and technologiesMinimum Requirements:Grade 12Degree educated or equivalent experienceProven experience in Operational management service delivery to inflight catering (desired)Proven experience in large volume catering manufacturing businessProven experience in a General Manager or Senior Leadership role, ideally from an Inflight BackgroundAt least 2-5 years' experience in Airline Catering BackgroundStrong financial acumen, including budgeting, cost control, and financial analysisKnowledge of safe food handling, sanitation, and health & safety regulationsHealth & Safety certification (desired)Contract Management Experience requiredProficiency in computer systems and software relevant to inflight cateringStrong understanding of food operations, including food preparation, service delivery and inventory management, with the focus on front face customerStrong knowledge of Catering unit Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and Service Level Agreements (SLAs)IT Skilled across Microsoft Platforms or similar, WMS and or similar management platformsFlexibility to work evenings, weekends, and occasional holidays as requiredExcellent leadership and people management skills, with the ability to inspire, influence and motivate a diverse teamAbility to work under pressure, multitask, with high attention to detailExcellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and writtenSound knowledge of Retail Customers, Range Selections, Performance, and other direct customer requirementsExpertise in managing suppliers and best practicesAn ability to read and understand legal agreementsStrong interpersonal skillsRobust financial knowledge, with an analytical & methodical mindProblem solver & innovative, being proactive and forward thinkingPlanning and coordinating abilityTrustworthy & emotionally matureExercise self-reflection - able to self-correct and be flexible / adapt to changeDuties and Responsibilities:Effectively manage the full end to end inflight catering operation meeting all Customer, Company and Government Regulations, Contract Service Level Agreements, Health & Safety, Security, Compliance, Employment, and all other legal statutory obligationsEffectively manage the Retail Operation for Warehousing – Pick & Pack – Final Mile Outbound/Inbound following Customer, Company (Retail) & Government Regulations and GuidelinesResponsible for Profit & Loss management in line with Group Company requirements and finance budget expectations.All Food Production & Plating, ensuring full compliance is managed in line with Customer, Company and Government Food SafetyHandling & Quality Standards and RegulationsAll associated stores functions, (Food, Dry, Bonded, Warehouse & Equipment) are managed in line with Customer, Company, and Government RegulationsFlight assembly including, Food & Tray set packing, Equipment, Stores & Ancillary Services are managed in line with Customer, Company, and Government RegulationsEnsure all Inbound, Outbound Scheduled, Charter and Ad Hoc Services are managed on time and in full following agreed Customer, Company, and Government RegulationsEffectively manage building facility infrastructure, site equipment and utility services following Company and Government RegulationsEffectively manage transport and vehicle fleet, maintenance, and compliance in line with Company and Government RegulationsEnsure Staff Training, Security and Health & Safety requirements are always adhered to in line with Customer, Company, and Government RegulationsFull Landside & Airside Security ComplianceBuild and manage an effective professional team, across all levels to ensure a smooth and efficient operationDevelop and maintain strong relationships with Customers & Regulatory BodiesOwnership of profitability of own ranges.
